What Games Would You Like To See Updated (Windows 7/8+ Compatibility)?

Simply put, there have been great games in the past that are unfortunately not compatible with Windows 7 (and presumably 8), so what games from the past would you like to see updated to be compatible?

For myself, it has to be Monopoly Tycoon. That game was very addictive, and definitely one that I miss being able to play.

I have read that there is supposed to be a workaround that makes it playable - but without audio, which makes it a definite no-go as far as I am concerned. The in-game music was an integral part of the game to me, and to attempt to play without that would lessen the enjoyment in a big way.

Oh god that was an amazing game. It's probably the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia, but listening to the OST on Youtube just now just sent me back. Had a look around for any fixes but they seem to mention the music problem. Play music on your browser and run the game or try running the game inside a virtual machine?

One of my favorite games from my childhood was Tyrian. I lost the files ages ago but was chuffed to bits when GOG were handing out updated versions for free.

I am hoping that GOG get the rights to Nocturne and release it, there are ways to get it up and running on 7 but I've had no luck with it at all, tried so many things and it just won't go or crashes in some way or another.

Could virtual machines be the answer for your woes?
VM player is great and it's free
You may be able to dig out those old cases from the loft and get your old windows keys to use too?

DosBox and Defend Reloaded for all those DOS Classics that GOG haven't sorted http://sourceforge.net/projects/dfendreloaded/

There are OpenGL projects for the ID games Doom, 1 & 2, the brilliant Heretic, and Hexen such as the Doomsday Project. this is cross platform and runs on Linux and Mac as well as Windows http://dengine.net/

EDuke 32 for the original Duke Nukem and some other Build Engine games again cross platform. WinRott and WinRott GL for the original Rise of The Triad. http://www.riseofthetriad.dk/DL_GlROTT.htm

For Dark Forces and some other games Dark XL http://xlengine.com/

All these are worth a look, as is GENS for running Sega console game ROMS, Fusion does the same in Linux.

Halo 2 vista! needs to be re-released on win7, such a enjoyable game and also so fast-paced, obviously only the multiplayer though ;-)

Re: What Games Would You Like To See Updated (Windows 7/8+ Compatibility)?

I think dungeon keeper was the only game I was upset about not being able to play anymore. Everything else I could find another game to fulfill the voids. Bring me that back with current graphics, and I'll be happy bunny.

Re: What Games Would You Like To See Updated (Windows 7/8+ Compatibility)?

What and awesome topic to find !!
There are a huge collection of old dos games that i feel should be updated due to the fact not everyone is confident enough to use programs like DosBox.
I started playing pc games when first gen pentium 120 chips were the top cpu's you could get with windows 95.
As for my list of remakes here goes.
    Starwars X-Wing
    Starwars Tie-Fighter
    Screamer Rally
Mechwarrior ( I know they have made a new MMO but the series was pretty good )
    Battle Isle
    Carmageddon
    Crusader no Remorse
    Crusader no Regret
    Constructor
    Wing Commander
    Warhammer 40,000 : Final Liberation
    Warhammer 40,000 : Chaos Gate
Warhammer 40,000 : Rites of War
