nice to see i'm not the only disappointed person...

when i bought it, i was expecting to see huge updates and an overhauled game engine...

i was hoping to renact moments from pearl harbour where the bombs literally go inside the ships and then detonate...i think at the most it should have been a £10 addon and at the minimum a patch...

almost absolutely nothing new has been brought to the table...

for me, despite all the gremlins, and the feeling I've been had, it's still worth it for the new planes and maps (especially New Guinea - IT'S HUGE!!!!)

if you're a massive fan of the IL2 series then buy it and moan about it

    if not, don't buy it

    simple as that really

On the contrary, TiG, in real-life the japanese had time delayed their bombs so that on impact with a carrier/ hapless ship, they would break thru and then detonate setting off aviation fuel weapons etc causing great dirty fires which usually spell the end of that ship if not forever then for a good two moths or so.

Also the japanese usually wouldn't drop their bombs if they were going to do a kamikaze attack as to maximise the amount of damage inflicted to ship or victim.

This is my gripe of all gripes with this game, they could have implented a geo-mod style engine for all the ships, this is such a let down because it does'nt take a rocket scientist to realise that attention has been pointed to sea warfare hence the delecious looking water and ships, so this should have been the least they could have added and all my other gripes about the game would been alleviated out of respect.

blimey Beanfro...why dont you visit us here in this FOrum more often?

    Geo-Mod style......

you mean, why dont the SHIPS have trhe same exacting standards of fuel tank placement, engine zone, etc...that the PLANES have.

ie 4 well placed rockets would sink ANYTHING.......but a badly placed torpedo is worth nothing

Respect to the FRo......he needs a plane ....soon

    Dude,

While i respect your point, it conflicts with my whole point about this PC Game. Its a game, one side fights another, you choose Japanese or Americans.

Physics rules are the same, drop 5*1000 lb on a carrier you take it out, drop 5*60kg bomb and erm well DIDLY SQUAT happens.

put that in context of a VEF type mission and Japanese are going to lose everytime. Yes it may be a simulation game, and therefore be much closer to what happened, but then early war the americans got their arses kicked if i'm not mistaken.

My whole point about this game and hence why this thread has gone on so long is that fact that its not finished, its not a standalone game, it hardly even makes it to the point of a add on.

I can pick issue after issue on this game and feel like i'm ranting forever. Why do i get so mad?, well i'm a software programmer and if i ever released stuff like this to clients we wouldn't get any more.

There is something to be said for taking pride in ones work, and releasing a fully finished polished product.

    This certainly ain't it

nice one zak, but i don't have net access from home so i cant post as often as i'd like.

and what you said about well placed rockets is correct because IL-2 strives to be realistic so it would only be right to have geo-mod style destruction physics on the ships, its only realistic!!

and the only reason i know so much about planes is because my eldest bro is a fully qualified airline pilot and i've read of his world war 2 books blah blah...

the bottom line is, if you're going to ape real-life in a game do it perfectly!!

respect for the fro and keep mey plane warm cos when i eventually get broadband you will my mad skills...OH CRAP I'M LATE FOR MY LESSON!!

P.S. i've been making some really cool movies (most of which are il2 movies) with premiere anyone interested in hosting some of smaller ones?? (about 10 - 20mb each)

P.S.S. 199 posts isn't bad for someone with no net access from home is it??

i agree with you but, the Americans got their arses kicked badly (i.e. pearl harbour) at the beginning of the war, thats why they got involved in the war in the first place, but you seem to have missed my point slightly, towards the end of what i said, i mentioned that bombs should have been able to penetrate the surface of any ship or building especially if they were time delayed.

And the patch for pacific fighters coming soon should have a lot of intresting addons for us...well i hope for their sake there is...

Add ons? You mean fulfillment of promises, don't you?

Ok, too cynical, how about "You mean the missing content that was supposed to be ready but wasn't included as there wasn't enough room"?

Sorry, but either way you cut it, I refuse to be grateful and gushing over them giving us stuff they should have given us upon release.
