Rust Server / General Rust Talk

I thought Id make this thread for 2 reasons

    1. To tell people about this awesome game
    2. To let them know about a great server I play on / run

So first of all I'll explain what rust is, rust is a first person survival game very similar to dayz but there are animals that will kill you aswell as zombies and there is a building mechanic which is really fun and adds longevity to the game which day z lacks imo but you should definitely check it out because it is in early access for £15 and it already is an amazing game and I highly recommend you check it out.

As for the server its a 50 man noob friendly server where you can donate if you wish and in return we will thank you will some basic supplies eg. wood , stone , metal fragments in different quantities depending on how much donate we also will have admins on a lot of the time so if we have any problems we can help sort them out.

The only rules we really have is no killing new players.

If your new to the game then we can help you out and give you a helping hand.

Oh and last but not least the server ip is 85.236.100.91:28415

You can hit f1 then type net.connect 85.236.100.91:28415 to easily connect as the browser is a bit iffy.

You might want to link to the game as I'd never heard of it - http://playrust.com/intro-video/ - It's also on Steam in Alpha for £14.99

Looks like DayZ crossed with Minecraft, seems interesting, will have to look at some more vids/feedback on it.

Re: Rust Server / General Rust Talk

I saw this game the other day, noticed it because Markiplier (on youtube) had done some videos on it.

DayZ crossed with minecraft does sound like a very good description for it.

One thing I do like is that buildings where good loot spawns tend to be in radiation zones so you cannot hang about in them.

Re: Rust Server / General Rust Talk

Thanks, I may give this a try. The servers I have been playing on are not new-player friendly at all and a couple of those even advertise themselves as being friendly.

Tbh, I had almost given up on the game at this point because of that.

Re: Rust Server / General Rust Talk

I currently have the Rust bug. Its way more entertaining if you can play with others and work as a team. Though I've heard a few solo players have got quite far and a lot out of the game. I will say it takes a few goes at finding a good server with right balance of people addons etc.. and you do need to dedicate a fair bit of time to it.
The game is promising but I still see a minimum of a years development ahead.

I'm thinking of picking up a new survival game for the summer, I'm stuck between 7 Days to Die and Rust, what's the longevity of Rust like? Does it get boring quickly? So far from what I've seen, it looks very interesting, and fun with a group of people.

I'd recommend reading the developer blogs of Rust. There is a lot of development happening in the background.
Its definitely worth watching a number of YouTube vids as well.
I've been playing since March and it could be said its easy to play but harder to master. In a way the server will dictate the flow and style of the gameplay by the amount of people playing and the way the server is configured. I'd recommend starting on a emptyish one to get the hang of the map and idea of how you want to play then move to a busier one.
The game itself has its pro's and cons and so does each server.
There is a hidden alpha mode which lets you have a sneak peek at the latest development and have to say the future graphics look very nice.
