Depends on your budget I guess, you can pay a lot for a keyboard. I have the corsair k70 however its total overkill and wouldn't say it gave me a gaming advantage over my old bog standard microsoft keyboard

    Re: Gaming Mouse /+ Keyboard

Personally I think Razer keyboards are too overpriced for what they are, also the Deathstalker is NOT mechanical and looks like laptop keys & the razer blackwidow uses cherry MX blues which are not ideal for gaming. If I was you I would buy a corsair or CM storm keyboard they are better value for money and use Cherry MX Red switches which are better for gaming (although they still sell models with blue/brown/black/green switches)

I think the mouse is fine although I do like my Razer Deathadder but i have heard very good reviews from friends that own steelseries mice/keyboards

    Re: Gaming Mouse /+ Keyboard

There are no better keys for gaming. The best key for gaming is the one you like. I prefer reds for typing and blues for gaming because reds are easy to touch type on and blues are precise.

Find a keyboard with features you want and it'll probably be the best one for you. Everyone has their own personal opinion

But there are very distinct differences between the two.
Reds are good for spamming keys and blues are good for precision.

Most people don't like reds to type on as the feedback isn't there.
I am typing on reds now, but it isn't good as my keyboard with browns.

As before, it's down to personal opinions at the end of the day. Razer seem to think blues are better for gaming, but corsair think reds are.

Corsair k40 and k45 are a very good pair and the k40 has amazing backlighting. And the k45 has some well placed programmable buttons for gaming

    Re: Gaming Mouse /+ Keyboard

I bought the Logitech G400S around a month ago. It is an awesome mouse, perfect for FPS and other games - very grippy, the mouse has a special texture to keep your hand from slipping or sweat from gathering on the surface. I use it in conjunction with my Steelseries mouse mat, and works like a charm. Not sure if you can get a hold of the G400S easily in the US, but it cost me around £35 ($60) from Amazon.

    Re: Gaming Mouse /+ Keyboard

Something funny happened, my mouse still does that thing it does but now I can control it by applying pressure at a certain part of the left click - I'm not supposed to click the center of the key but rather somewhere close to the middle mouse button, and now it's working fine. But still, I might be buying if I get a new GPU or win a PC parts/system contest or something.

Right now I'm getting around 15fps at CS:GO, which is bad! that's why I'm no longer playing it and somewhere around +25fps in Dota 2, which is still playable even if there's tons of things happening on screen.

    Re: Gaming Mouse /+ Keyboard

Well, my trusty keyboard broke so I needed a replacement. But before that conclusion, I opened it up, it wasn't a mechanical keyboard as I supposed it was, it's using that silicon thing.
I noticed some burn marks on the plastic transparent thing that holds the wire things (I'm not really good at technical words )

So i bought the Razer Bundle I was talking about. And here's what I think of it -

    Razer Deathstalker Essential 2014

    - unlike the original Deathstalker, it is what the added word implies - essential, but not really THAT essential as to gaming. It's essential in a way compared to the original, you don't get the LED backlight (Which I was looking forward to). But it's still ESSENTIALLY the same Deathstalker keyboard. *You see what I did there?

That LED backlight thing was pretty much a bummer. I checked their site just to be sure about it, and there it doesn't say anything about it not being LED backlit because all that promotional stuff you see there implies that it is. That's pretty much marketing in a nutshell. However I'm not totally bummed out about it, I still think that it's still a great buy (no good gaming in the dark though, unless you memorize the key layout and distances). The keys are a bit hard to read even with ambient light ('coz it's colored gray - I think it really was supposed to be backlit but Razer decided to do some cost cutting). Still, it feels really good to type with. But I was thinking there were other buys around that I haven't really checked out. My sister is pretty optimistic about this keyboard though. She seems eager to type with it.

And this is like a great opportunity to try one of them keyboard stickers that looks pretty awesome

    Razer Abyssus Mirror

    - if you're not into that shiny gloss thing, I don't really blame you 'coz you get to see the smudges. But it's a real gaming mouse, not too fancy with all those cool buttons and sexy smooth look. It's just really a gaming mouse designed to be accurate. I'm comparing it to my other gaming mouse from China. It has a real different feel to it, pretty accurate for me too. I like that blue Razer logo that glows on it, looks good in the dark. This mouse has showed me something that I haven't noticed for about four years - my monitor has a ghosting issue, and I just noticed it when I moved the mouse across the screen, I've never really noticed it while playing games or watching movies.

Anyway, this mouse is really simple, but if I had to choose between this mouse or something from CM or Tt, I'd get those instead, in the same price range of course, because those seem like a but more durable, I've tried those offerings from Tt and it feels really solid and has a bit of a weight which is good because I'm having a bit of an issue with this mouse. I can't really move it around much because I think it's gonna break. I'll probably get the hang of it when I start gaming again. As of now, even though it's a bit small, I'm quite comfortable with it's size and weight.

THANKS TO ALL WHO WERE ACTIVE IN THIS THREAD. I've read each of your comments and thought about it and I wanted to try a different path. Lesson's learned though
I like this Hexus forum, it's pretty active like Steam's.

MY ADVICE TO YOU ALL IS - if you're into low profile keyboards like those in laptops, this is a good buy, it's quite easy to type with because it seems a bit quicker. But this is not a mech keyboard! not really an issue for me.

And about the mouse, GENERALLY - it's your preference, if you're into lightweight and small, or those bulky and heavy

What matters is you're comfortable with what you use and that's that THANK YOU ALL!

I know you bought your bundle so this is just for anyone else who came here looking for ideas.

Keep your eye out for dirt cheap G500 mice in store fronts. They seem to be selling them off and they are my favorite style for physical feel and overall performance. Microsoft Sidewinder X4 are kind of in the same boat. Not current tech but you can find them cheap. Solid k/B for a reasonable price. I would say keep your eye out for the Lycosa from Razer as I do like it but it may end up being a dud like the two i have owned.

I've heard a great deal about the G500 from Logitech. Great reviews around the net. Too bad it's expensive from where I am.

    Re: Gaming Mouse /+ Keyboard

I did check online yesterday when I posted and ya some of the online prices for items that MSRP at around $59.99 were up around $120. On that note some of the used prices on Amazon and such, were around $30-40 for some items but I hate buying used items that have 3 year warranties. If it is razer with a one year maybe but not a Logitech or Microsoft product with a 3 year standard warranty. I kind of feel cheated and would rather spend full price. Most of the time at least.

I've tried playing games with the other extra mouse buttons. I always forget to use them haha, perhaps I need more time with those things. Maybe I'll just join one of those raffles and maybe I could get a mouse like that.

It muse be real nice to own one

The best combo I have had is the Qpad MK-85 with Cherry Reds and Razer Mamba Elite. Just enough buttons on the mouse. I usually like a heavier mouse and was surprised at how comfortable this was. Battery Life is good and lots of settings for sensitivity

I personally have a K70 and a Razer Imperator mouse that suit me just fine.

Only problem is that once you've gone mechanical rubber dome keyboards just feel... Horrible in comparison.

    Re: Gaming Mouse /+ Keyboard

I'm trying to stay away from wireless for the time being... Well at least until they release some sort of Nikola Tesla tech that you won't need batteries anymore.

You know, like the energy will just come from the bluetooth connection or other means via USB plugged into the PC. It's not impossible, just so you know, radiation is capable of moving electrons, like an incandescent bulb into a microwave oven - you'll see it light up when you turn the microwave on (Don't test it though, it might blow the oven, just watch it on youtube). There's already a flashlight powered just by body heat, think about what might be next

We won't be getting those Hoverboards from back to the future though.
