    Nice 1 Pyle

Low Yo Yo is in fact an underrated move and one you need to master if your going to fly the slower russian / allied planes v 190s and 109s

Ok imagine the scene you chugging on home after an uneventful recon flight and are loosing hieght to prepare for landing in 5 mins or so, out of the corner of your eye you spot a lone 109 heading in opposite direction and 500ms lower, you stick her on a wingtip and wheel round to engage. Your hieght advantage lets you close the gap to around 1km your on his 6 but can do nothing about it In fact as your speed bleeds off to your planes level flight speed he is slowly pulling away. So drop the pitch and nose, gain an extra 50kph in dive and pull up, pitch back to 100% then as you draw level again (or sooner if your speed bleeds off quick) and you pursue him in dips and climbs. To finish the move you want your final climb to be almost into him from underneath. Start firing in front of him first thing he knows is you knock out his engine.

And children thats why Uncle Dak always checks 6 all the time...straight and level is dead in this game

I've got that game and the quite thick instruction manual that came with it with quite a few dog fighting manouvers in it. Do you want it? Complete with diagrams . Also It came with a A1 poster of a spitfire in full glory

I'll draw a diag for a manuever I am quite fond of, it's a semi-defensive - it's to get you out of the way, then quickly get you behind them after.

I need to remember all the manouvers and do some decent diagrams, then i may put together a visual guide on combat manouvers, unfortunatley I know the manouvers but not the names, theres a low yo-yo aswell isnt there? Not sure on the use of that apart from maybe the plane thinking he has lost you but you are low and to his six in the blindspot.

A better diagram of the high turn. Took abit more time on it.

yup but one is advised to use (toggle between) combat flaps to take off flaps and back throttle to 25 % untill highest point of arc then full metal no flaps
slightly down to regain lost speed

I forgot to make the diag last night, but it shall be up by the weekend

It's nothing special, just a 'common sense' manuever really but I find it can VERY quickly turn the odds in your favor

It's a defensive move that is best used against BnZ'ers that are swooping in on you, but I suppose given circumstances it should be used against all foe

Actually, just looking through your diags again pyle, the manuver is basically the same as the head on, high turn move

Only difference is this can be done for any direction they are coming from to put them infront of you and you behind them. After that it is a case of lag turning and careful use of throttle and flaps/pitch to stay behind them and not over shoot them or let them get away

I'll draw a diag to make it more clear

All of what you say guys is right, and some ace diagrams, but lets also keep onto actual principles of E fighting.

Energy...how to conserve it and how to spend it wisely.

OK....lets put a hypothetical situation up for grabs.

You are in a Lagg3 and your wingman is in a Hurricane. Both of these planes are at 5000 m altitude and neither dives well....at all.

You spot a BF110 under your nose....you two are side by side and spot it simulataneously....it is ahead of you, and coming towards you...and at about 2500 alt....

    what do you do?

In my (brief) experiences with this game, I would pass the bomber, then begin a fairly tight turn whilst descending, keeping a blance between tightness of turn and angle of attack to stop my wings falling off

Don't know if this is the 'right' or 'wrong' thing to do, but this is what I do

If it were a fighter however, I would probably begin a decent as soon as I were with 2k of it and then similar to the bomber scenario, turn and burn behind it

If the wingman is a person and not AI, we would probably do a defensive split and not stayed glued to my wing like the AI do

but WOULD you go down to him?

To turn is essential cos he's gonna pass you, but surely a SPLIT S would be better, as he went under you...however...he's 2 1/2 kilometres lower!!!!!you cant dive to him...not possible.....in one go.

    Would you even follow him?

Do you see where the rub is? Do you even consider lowering yourself and losing 2500 m height?

Well if I am in the air to take out the bombers (such as a VEF mission, or ZEF/DEF in my experiences ), then yes.

If on a public server, then hell no!

As for doing a split S, I personally would prefer to spiral dive round, keeping up the speed (so it would be a wide spiral) so I come in at them from the side. Bigger target for me, with sweet spots easier to hit, and I would be hard for their gunners to hit
