    FAO: Skinners...

Anyone know how I can get this into 256 colours (8 bit) BMP without it looking VERY gay?

    It's for the LA-7 3x20B btw.

Using Photoshop and it is blocking the channels below 16-bit, even though the file is opened as 8-bit.. (wtf?)

skins are ment to be bmp. best way iv found to make skins is to either just modify an existing one or find the right templates. the templates are around and normaly .psd so u have all the layers etc availble.

After uv created it and want to save the skin, on the main menu in photoshop anyway.

Image -> Mode -> Indexed Color

Then save it as the .bmp as normal. and it should be the right size etc..

there's a programme called 'Bright' which will you out - specifically designed for converting between 24 bit and 8bit without losing colour quality and definition. A really, really useful skinning tool.

I don't have a link to it, but someone on the IL2 skins forum will.

true, but always be sure it has only 256 colours and is 512x512 or 1024x1024

I knew it had to be 8-bit BMP, I only used JPEG to save webspace and everyones bandwidth
