Carmageddon: Reincarnation
Today the steam early access has been released to all Kickstarter backers of VIP level ($25) and above.
Interested to hear your thoughts if you have access.
I've just played around 20 minutes and i'm happy to report it does capture the feel of the original, the car handling is very similar - maybe slightly more weighty than the original but you are still able to perform your drifts into mounds of pedestrians  I was quite worried about this looking at some of the videos - I had a bad feeling that the speed had been reduced but my fears were happily unfounded. The sound effects are the best part though, pretty much just lifted from the original - even the annoying "wrong checkpoint" voice, superb.
For anyone wanting to play be aware it is VERY early access, placeholder textures, only 1 game mode and limited options. Like the early access I have for next car game I'll be mostly avoiding it until its more release worthy so it's still fresh.
But overall I can see this being a cracker.
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
OOOH! I'll need to check this out before it's banned!!!
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
Is the blood green yet? Can't see a gore patch working on a Steam based game, stupid platform would "correct" it.
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
It's still fully red, and brutal  I've just played a bit more and I stand by my earlier comments, a must buy for fans of the original(s). I've also found out that I paid enough for a second key so I'll be giving that away at some point too - I need to figure out the best way while remaining within the forum rules.
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
Downlaoding now, thanks for the reminder!
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
nice, it looks like it's just an update, more physics more polys but no change in game play.
Personally that's both good and bad, but after doing play testing work on both the playstation version of Carmageddon and TDR on pc (the last game of the series) that sort of limited track with smashy smashy doesn't hold that much appeal for me any more.
I'd take it over an F1/normal track race type game though and the focus of smashing up the other cars over actual racing was fun.
Now what would interest me would be more going back to the source material of Death Race 2000, make a slightly more open world cross country endurance race where you get extra point for causing destruction along the way.
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
I must admit, I stopped following the updates after a while. Where do you find the Steam code?
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
You have to login to humble bundle website, and request an e-mail reminder of all your CD keys, it's listed on the email which you then redeem in steam.
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
I can't wait to play this!

It's an alpha, what do you expect?
Re: Carmageddon: Reincarnation
Seems to be coming along nicely; I loaded it up on my low/mid range laptop and was able to play a little at least, which is pretty amazing considering it's in alpha!
