    Mark of the Ninja

Well on the initial advice and finally forced to play it by having it purchased for me on steam....my mate SeriousSam made me play what is in essence a 2d platform game

    And it's bloody superb

Truly truly addictive, simple and yet so so compulsively hard!

    Ok...from the beginning

Keyboard movement up down left right

    Mouse for targeting things

Other keys for various stuff...simple and easy easy to control. Actually I'd say it's natural game movement and is second nature rapidly

Beautifully crafted maps and sublime artwork. Simple but detailed

Sounds of your own movements and those of guards etc shows as an expanding circle so you can visually 'hear' enemies and they hear you

Wall ceilings and floor are nearly all available for you

Hiding behind items in 2d works well

Points are awarded not just for bopping guards but for hiding as they pass or for creative kills

Hook points for your climbing chain abound

Guards have visual zones that you can see and also torches which change effect according to their state of alertNess

All of this has been achieved in beautiful characterfull 2d scrolling

And it's HARD to score well but quite easy to achieve basic goals

    It's lovely!

Anyone else played? You should....really you should!

    Re: Mark of the Ninja

I've played it and am loving it as well. Very well constructed game with some interesting mechanisms giving you multiple options to complete the level goals. I noticed that there was a reward for being silent and not killing anyone so I tried that but it was so much more difficult. I've gone back to killing them all and hiding the bodies as I go.

The story is ok, not the main attraction but it isn't going to get in the way of the game. I like having the guide help you in the beginning, it blends the tutorial and game very well.

I think I'm going to go play some Mark of the Ninja now, writing this has made me want to experience more of the game.

    Re: Mark of the Ninja

Yeah man! It looks great and wanted it for aggessss, then it appeared on humble bundle and snagged it! I haven't really played it much atm, but really want to! Stylish and love the whole 2d with lush graphics. If i remember right isn't there one dlc that adds content to it? Not a big fan of dlc usually but if it adds alot for not much then i don't mind at all rather than 50 skins for £3 each!

I really would like to get a pad for it, i have an old ps2 pad and looked into it briefly. Should really save for a wired (sod batteries! ) xbox pad, or ps3 pad if i could get it to work would be awesome!
I think it's time to get that installed! Been trying to install all of my games past few weeks... slowy but surely!

    Re: Mark of the Ninja

not sure if this is extra but mine has a lot of "speed bubbles" which if you throw a bambo dart at them, the story of the game devlopment comes up a little at a time.

Not normally my scene but I've enjoyed reading them

    it's a top grade game.
