    BOMBER CREW: TV series

    http://www.channel4.com/history/micr.../B/bombercrew/

and we all got moist over Spitfire Ace (well I did anyway)

This looks to be better stil

    STARTS NOV 29th 9pm CH4

So now you've been warned.....here's the low down

there is none...the web site goes live with the program

But from memory, the Crews who are gonna be trained had to be relatives to Bomber Crews from WW2

Anyone else feel the hairs on the back of their neck rising ?

In this four-part series, five young men and women are given the opportunity to experience the same training that a World War II Bomber Crew would have gone through. For the five trainees the challenge has a great personal significance. They are all grandchildren of bomber veterans

I hope its better than Spitfire ace tbh, I wasn't that impressed last time around. They seemed to really stretch the material they had into 3 parts, the bits about the aircraft and what it took to fly it devoted to almost minimal. Any simulated combat ? Any attempt to replicate what would happen if a Rotte of bandits came screaming in from Angels 20 ? Nope, just the very occasional clip of the student flying the plane against the wonderful English countryside with lots of interviews and historical annecdotes from historians.

Hope this is better, Lancs are..

    ..nice

This might be a repeat from lat year

I only saw one of two programs, but the one I saw were modern day RAF personnel, who had all the modern day stuff mastered using the technology now available, and they were truly amazed at how it was done back in the day. The navigator was used to using a million pound computer to plot the flight plan, this was ditched for a map, compass, pencil and protractor.

That was the Dambusters one wasn't it - that was actually much better. For anyone that didn't see it a group of modern day RAF trainees were put in a flight simulator with a mock up Lanc cockpit , they had to fly with only basic navigation tools and maps to the Moehne dam, bomb it and get home.

    Was really good

    didnt see that.

Spitfire Ace for me was pretty good. I was gagging for a Buchon (sp?) 109 to have a stiddle with the Spit, but sadly not to be Otherwise I quite liked all the old boys being interviewed. Was 7/10 for me on TV watchability...and in an era of Celeb Get me outta here, 400 Home Makover shows and Sex Doctors on telly, it was actually an 8/10 in comparison. I HATE THAT TV GUFF....

    History Channel is my saviour

BUT figers crossed for this one...cos we have people learning different skills...not just pilots....we'll have Navigations and Gunnery too (I hope)

aww shucks... I wonder if having a granddad that shot them down (obviously the Bosch bombers.. ) for a job in the war would count?

bah! - my TV broke yesterday. For the last two years I've had to hit it to keep it in tune. But over the last two weeks the colours were going (just when the snooker was on telly too), and finally I hit the box once too often the tube gave out! It was 20 years old. So a new telly is on the way (Friday), but I'll miss the first episode of this

    I'll set the video
