It IS - believe me, if it was any other game I wouldn't have bothered re-installing, not in the same week/month at least.

It's just so REAL - so LIFELIKE. You hear stuff on documentary's and you know exactly how these guys musta felt - you experience the same stuff they felt, heart pounding, guns blazing: the full works.

You gotta be ready for it though - its a steep learning curve, and it only gets steeper - and that's what makes it so rewarding: from taking off for the first time, landing on an airfield, then a carrier, shooting down your first bomber, first fighter, decimating tanks, its GREAT

But then you realise its Ubi Soft behind it - and you see that PF has been rushed out due to pressure from Ubi - promises of aircraft in a new patch on release date, having patches just to fix bugs, beta patches, the disappearance of these aircraft yada yada yada.

Our whole squad has been torn apart by the whole thing - different people on different versions, of course each one incompatible with the next, so we've either had to have 6 gazillion installs and versions, or not fly - and that's sad

LOL, and you all thought after the reinstall it'd be alright!!

Now I've extracted the noCD dll and its still asking for the CD!!

But with the noCD dll it works with the CD??!?!?!?!?!!

All I want to do is fly the same as I did a week ago...

Yup, I've definately got the PF rts.dll installed, not the AEP one - the PF one is much smaller IIRC. All I can think it is is summat in the registry, but where it is and what to do with it I aint got a clue

Ah well, may format the whole thing come christmas, give me some time to rescue it in case it goes all balls up

Sorry to butt in but this is very sad to see.

I have to say, when I first started playing IL2 (about May last this year) it was great, like a "Golden Age"

Patch were all top notch and this, added some stuff we never had before (like hurri bombers for example)

Looking at this thread just makes me feel sad. The golden age, is seemingly over.

I used to enjoy playing Il2, Playing Pacific Fighters just puts me off.

... patched perfectly for me.. no probs at all.. the new planes are fantastic.. and combined with those already existing and the large number of maps with different weather and terrain available...makes it the fantastic combat sim.

last night was in a rolling scissors with a zero at about 2500 .. heart was in my mouth the whole time as we watched each other through the top of the cockpit,, trying to out-do each other....

Ive had some mental DFs since PF took out USAF Iceman and his wingman the other day in a zero. And had a right ding dong with a Ki84 in a Corsair, till he ran out of fuel from a hole I punched in his tank at the start

I'm holding off installing this game until I get my new Motherboard, CPU and Graphics cards next 2-3 weeks

Is 1 of you available nearer to the xmas period for helping a n00b with installing ?

I've nailed my installs now

After Add remove on all of them, and a reboot, and a manual deletion of the files that are left...and a defrage and a reboot again ..on both PC's.

FB went in. AEP went in over it. No CD and sound card .dll (just in case) annd latest patch.....2.04 sorted.

Copy Paste entire folder, renamed it AEP+PF.

Installed PF into it...merged. Installed 3.01m...no cd....tested

Copied THIS entire file to a spare place, annd put 3.02bm in (both parts) and...CRITICALLY did as Hat said somewhere else...use the old icon in the game, NOT the one that says New (ie not the one with the PC icon..the one that looks like the original FB icon.

Job done.

FB on its own is a no goer cos its got nowt extra to offer.

Job done.
