Meta alloys can only be found at barnacle sites. Merope 5c in the Maia system has them. Planet co-ordinates for their exact location can be found online. You'll need an SRV, fire on the barnacles and they give off meta alloys to collect I believe.

Most have been exhausted. You can however buy them at the planetary station in Maia if memory serves. Darnielle something or other. :)
Thanks. I guess I need to buy a high range ship because my combat fitted python only has a range of like 16ly.

FYI, if you're going to Jacques, they no longer need meta-alloys. So don't bother with them if that's what you have in mind.
I'm 8000ly into my trip in my 17ly (laden) Python. I can reaffirm earlier statements, this game isn't fun. Although my current location is stunningly beautiful.
I just needed one for the engineer unlock. I ended up going with the diamond back scout I think. I wanted the higher version but thats the only thing that was near me. Also I have a 2k bounty for the engineer planet but I can't find anywhere to pay it off.
You can't pay off bounties, you have to wait for them to expire. Once they've expired you'll can pay them off at any station in the system.
I've noticed a few different timers get to zero and now there's one in days??? WTH this is sooo weird. before you just paid it off asap and were fine.
Yeah and people were exploiting the mechanics surrounding paying off bounties so FDev capped player bounties at 1mil cr, and now bounties persist for a length of time depending on how severe the crime involved was.
So anyone trying to upgrade your ship(s) with Engineer mods?

I have a shopping list next to the computer.. it's materials/data scans which I can't buy that are the problem, I'm trying just to go about normal business and not think about it, but I've been trying to collect for any number of upgrades simultaneously and haven't got anywhere close! I wonder if higher grade mats aren't dropping because there's some kind of ranking scaling? (Like level scaled treasure)
I'll get there eventually. Also I need to actually get out in the buggy :p
Do you use a wake scanner? Some of the data types need to be harvested by scanning High Wake signatures (the grey radar signatures when a ship drop in / out of high wake...get within range and scan for \'Atypical Disrupted Wake Echoes\' etc.
Haven't got the space for one :/ I've been getting the scans from mission rewards or encrypted signal sources so far. If it gets to the point where I've got everything else I need and I just need wake scans I'll swap one in. I've managed to get up to 16 modular terminals eventually, but I'm saving them for Qwent so still need a few more. Trying for increased FSD 3-5 primarily, with some others on the side if I can get the stuff.Quote:
