Yes loads, you can land on planets, visit engineers to upgrade your ship and loads more. If you have the time to put into it, it's an amazing game, but time and grind is essential. None of this stuff is quick to learn or quick to do. I've invested so much time into this game, it's scary!Quote:

Played the VR with a WMR headset recently, it's very fun and looked beautiful.
I got a Lenovo VR headset but unfortunately my rig isn't really up to it (Ryzen 1200 and radeon 480). Hence at the settings I can run stations are a shimmering, glittery mess. The effect of sitting in a 3d cockpit though is amazing. The sense of scale between the different ships that you get in vr is completely missing in 2d and some of the ships that I didn't like because of the offset cockpit, like the cobra, feel much better in vr.
The Radeon 480 isn't that bad, I presume a 1200 will max out in VR though as my 2200G would get nailed at 100% on the Rift. A 2600X upgrade should make a huge difference to you if you can find one cheap.Quote:

I built this system late last year with the 1200 as a placeholder intending to replace with ryzen 3000 or a 2nd hand 2000 chip. At the moment I am undecided what to do. The 3600 looks a great chip but there seem to be so many problems with the new bios especially on the older 450 boards like mine. I think a 2600 would probably be good enough for me if I could find one and would leave the extra money to spend on other bits that need updating.Quote:

To be honest, while the 3600 is tempting, at £120 the 2600 is the bargain of the century.
I don't know about the 470s but many of the 450s have a bios chip that is struggling to fit the new bios in. MSI seem badly affected and they have even launched a respin of their 450 boards with bios chips that are twice the size.Quote:

Yes, some BIOS updates are losing support for the old APUs based on construction cores. I doubt they will be missed tbh.Quote:

I just can't make my mind up. The 2600 would be a big upgrade but I wonder about its longevity. The 3600 has the massive ipc upgrade over the 2600 and seems to be a great performer but it is obviously more money and I also wonder about its longevity with only 6 cores. I get the feeling that 8 cores will start to be the standard soon. I am leaning towards the 2600 and accepting I may need to upgrade again in a couple of years, zen2+ maybe? Good luck on deciding your upgrade path, though I don't think there really are any bad options for you. For me the 2600X seemed to have bags of spare capacity playing VR Elite so I expect the 2600 would do you just fine. When I saw the code compiling benchmarks for the 3700 I knew what I needed though.
