It'll be worth it. This is the game I pretended to play in my hea when actually playing Elite. Beta 2.04 is solid now, and well - wow. Loving every minute.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

OK so I've come across a bit of a nasty bug with v2.04

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qRc...DxvTF6PX9hwOAA

So I got my Viper back, but didn't really have enough to outfit it, so carried on with the loaned pulse lasers. Started making some cash by destroying wanted ships, albeit slowly. Came across the Anaconda and decided to have a go thinking that the payout would be worth it. As per the video after a 10 minute slog I take him out and I'm granted with a 48k bounty voucher. However, by the look of it the bounty system is bugged, and my voucher disappeared on docking. Gutted! Devs have been informed so will see what response I get to my ticket.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

O man that sucks. I jumped out at a random unidentified signal last night in my standard sidewinder. To be confronted with an Elite level Anaconda screaming profanities at me that I'm dust. Cue me bricking it and turning away to run with him on my tail, only to get "Missiles incoming warning" about 1 second before jumping. Small but great moment, will be more wary next time my curiosity gets the better of me!

Yeah i've been really impressed with the improvements in the AI combat - i'm finally feeling in danger from things other than getting rammed by a pesky fighter

Would that be War Essence by any chance?

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

I don't believe it was no, but I did take on that mission just prior to that encounter and find the War Essence. Opened fire for a laugh, WE chased me for a while and got me down to 60 % but I managed to pull 4km away and the missiles weren't able to track me that far flying past and exploding in mid air - another escape

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

Part of the fun in Elite is knowing when to run.

War Essence was the one that 7%'d my Sidewinder. Once I'm tooled up, his card is well and truly marked, muahaha.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

I wish I had more time to play it to be honest - it's the first game that's really interested me since Far Cry 3 - it's still to be seen if it can match my 7 year addiction to Supreme Commander.

I hope that they can expand on the multiplayer aspect of it...as it's not really catered for at present. Although you can play together, it's hard to find each other in the middle of nowhere (obviously since this is a galaxy scale game world!). I'm not wanting massive clans, but something akin to a Borderlands upto 8 player co-op missions or similar would be appreciated. So you can play with mates and actually find one another and attempt missions together.

I'd like that, I'd also like it if it were to split/share the bounty and experience points between the players in a squad as there have been many occasions when I've been playing with MaddAussie and others only to find that he might wipe out the shields and then take the hull down to 10% only for a glancing hit fired by my ship to take out that opponent and award me the kill, I think I should only be awarded a part of the bounty and he should take the rest, my award should be proportionate to the damage dealt.

Indeed, that might be a suggestion worth making on the official forums.

I do believe this has been suggested before - not sure of the general Dev thoughts, but the community were broadly supportive.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

Finally getting to grips with the controls. Found my old X45 from the IL2 days, gave it a quick clean, hunted out drivers, and some friendly chap has uploaded a working profile for it to the Elite forums. Had a quick play in the tutorials, and just completed my first courier mission (solo play). Have to say it looks and plays very well, enjoying it so far.
