On a separate note spent this afternoon setting up facetracknoir and its good fun.

The seeking luxury traders have gone
Will order one of those myself, just dug my soldering kit out after moving house.
Well since the patch last night they have gone. :(
Don't know if anyone else has found this but there are no some gfx performance issues. It was really terrible trying to play it last night. Had to turn all the features down to get it half smooth and was causing massive system latency and making all audio crackle. Whatever they did I hope they fix it soon cause I regard it as unplayable right now.
Are you talking about the Beta 1.1 patch? I thought the only patch they did on the main server was server side for the stuck bounties and respawning with cargo.
Some highlights of the 1.1 patch: -
Interdicting clean players is a crime unless they are wanted.
NPCs that interdict you will now actually spawn instead of just empty space.
Missiles nerfed.
Python nerfed, but the cargo scoop now works!
Shield cells nerfed. In fact, if you try to spam shield cells, you will overheat and explode.
PDTs don't aggro stations, and if you shoot someone, your docking priviledge is revoked. No more station griefing.
"Seeking Luxuries" grinding and extraction zone hunting nerfed.
Planet load stuttering fixed.
Clipper mass lock fixed.
Combat bonds buffed.
When the player accidentally hits an AI ship damage is accumulated. If a threshold is exceeded (by multiple hits or a powerful weapon like a rail-run), the ship turns hostile. The AI ship will "forget" the damage before it turns hostile:
1) if the AI ship recharges its shield to 100%.
2) if a (currently 30 sec) timer runs out.
- Make the system apply to stations as well.
Overall, it's more fixing than anything new being added but I don't think that's a bad thing at this point in time.
Sound has had a considerable work over from what I've read too. I've got access to the beta but don't fancy it at the moment, I think the beta period is only going to be a week or so. Not worth it imho.
Reading the forums (I am away for the rest of the week so can't play), they have "fixed" trading. Supply price works and it is devastating the popular tradw routes. It will be laborious to find them manually and will force people to disperse. I think it's a good time to get an Asp and go exploring this weekend, especially if my EdTracker turns up by then.
About time, traders have had it far too good for too long! That said, I have a lovely bounty hunting bit of space at the moment where I'm doing fairly well. No incentive for me to move on at the moment. :)
I'd be interested to see how you get on with EDTracker I've been using freetrack with an IR clip and although it works, I'm essentially just using my head as a POV hat. I'm also getting weird issues with a single frame at the centered view every now and again.
I have ordered a HOTAS though. Was hunting round european amazon sites for the X52 pro (as no one in the UK has any) and ended up picking up an X55 for £140 from amazon spain. Excited is not the word, just need to see about where I'm giong to put it - a few people seem to be using VESA clamp mounts on chair arm which may be a flyer if I can find any cheap enough.
Presently indulging in some rares trading in a hauler to pick up enough cash to make a viper halfway decent. $400k isn't nearly enough to make it worthwhile it turns out and I can't fly the eagle for toffee.
C2 Fixed beams and a pair of gimballed multis in my future.
I have seen that VESA setup and thought about it but I curently have my X52 on my desk with my mouse in the middle, which I use for station menus. The keyboard has been pushed back under the monitor and is mostly used when searching the galaxy map.
The default setup for the X52 was very good but I did make a minor change. By default, the pinkie switch focuses the UI to allow you to select the screens. I disabled it and changed the Saitek profile editor to enable it as a shift button. The HAT function for the screens still worked by assigning them the relevant keys but now has the added bonus of being able to use it in conjunction with the other buttons on the joystick for chaff/shield banks/heat sinks and so on.
It is very satisfying when you are about to enter combat and you flick the guard off to deploy your hardpoints! Even more so flicking it back after destroying a ship...
No guard on the x55 so I'll miss that little bit of satisfaction, but the million flip switches should make up for it.
Plan is to set macros on the mode switch for a combat mode (hard points out, power to engines and weapons) general flight (hardpoints away, engines full 2 in shields, trigger to boost not fire etc) and (a bit optimistically) an fa off mode - throttle mapped to forward
backward thrust and one of the rosaries to throttle.
What this game really needs is a rotational input damper. FA off would be so much more pleasant if you didn't have to exactly match an initial rotational input to cancel it.

We can FINALLY sort shop items how we want ir via type price ascending etc
Excellent, I like how they are improving the accidental friendly fire issue, so now a glancing blow to a ship that wonders through a stream of bullets or lasers being fired at a hostile ship won't leave us with two or more hostiles to deal with.
