So, my EdTracker arrived and I assembled it but the 1.1 patch took a few hours to download before I could try it. In the meantime, I happened to notice that it worked with Euro Truck Simulator so spent the time playing that with it and found it to be really good and useful. It works OK in Elite but I haven't found it really useful at the moment; I might just need time to get used to it rather than just using my joystick to access the screens and so on.

I did spend an hour or so trying to get my name on a system as first discovered since I happened to be in my Asp but it took quite some effort to find one (Taurus Dark Region DL-Y D47); actually made 50k from it + around 10% bonus as first discoverer. It probably didn't help that I just took a course to a nebula or two so was a well travelled route but the 1000ly planner is brilliant. However, I did find one annoying thing when I got interdicted (this happened a few times due to me scooping at the sun, plus scanning, plus checking the System Map so I was a fairly easy catch) and after I had run away or destroyed them, I had then had to go back to the galaxy map and reselect the route (which luckily is still highlighted) to get a target on my HUD to jump.

I see it isn't just my wife that thinks the ship says "friendship Drive Charging"!

I didn't want to say anything because I thought I was being silly, but I hear the same thing...

Reading the forums, it sounds like there are still a few issues. Clipper CTD (I believe has been hotfixed), ships getting blown up for lowering their landing gear, collisions being really random now and normally destructive for one of the parties, and finally I saw a video of someone's Point Defense Turrets shooting down his own missles!

Last night, while in a seeking good instance I got near the lakon 9 to scan it and got rammed and my 15Mil+ asp got destroyed. Basically I didn't have enough to cover my losses and apparently have to go back to the sidewinder and i permanently lose my asp. Seriously there should be an option to have a more aggressive percentage off earnings to pay off bigger loans etc

It is a pain mind. An option to tick to always have your insurance amount banked would be nice as I have filled my hold before and then had to re-sell a few tons because I realised I didn't have enough to cover insurance. Having once come out of FSD and straight into the side of a seeking goods type 9 I am now quite paranoid about it. Thankfully in that instance the trader bought all my cargo in the moments before impact else I would have bought back my ship and had nothing left to buy cargo with.

No no no, don't even start with blaming the game. You died and didn't have the funds to cover it. It's the one simple rule of ED; don't fly what you can't afford to lose.

If you're the sort of pilot who can't close to scanning range of a huge-ass ship without crashing into it, you're too great a liability for a large loan...!

I found the trick is to build up twice the purchase price of a ship + loadout before you buy it, especially a combat ship - You'll need to rearm and refuel anyway, but the first thing you're gonna do with your shiny new shooter-ship is go get into some scrapes. You'll likely have a different handling to get used to and will exceed your limits a couple of times while you learn, so plan in for a few replacement fees.

I don't mean to sound nasty about this, but I think it *is* your flying...
I've never had a problem with NPCs, even when they were being a bit glitchy.

As is, I keep having numerous 'Maverick Moments' where I go 'inverted' on them!!

You may have a case to ticket it as it looks like the collisions are rather random, especially when docking and undocking, but don't expect an answer any time soon.

However, as mentioned above, ultimately there is no such thing as a "safe trip". Therefore, I am sorry to say that you made a mistake/took a risk and got bitten. If it was a case that your ship got destroyed for no reason whenever you undocked and after 3 attempts you ran out of money, then you could blame the game fair and square. I've tried to make sure I am always covered for at least one insurance value but I also have all my old ships lying around the universe (Elite scrappage scheme in a couple of year time? ), so I can always sell one of them to start trading in my T-6 if it went wrong for some reason.

On the upside, you now know how to play the game far better than when you originally started. I'm sure you could be back in a T6 before you know it, ASP the following weekend.

Assuming you crashed into them the issue that was causing it has now been fixed with 1.1.1 released this afternoon and are refunding everyone the insurance costs, although probably not cargo.
