    Re: building pc

Given that you're talking about a fairly low budget @ £250, why are you interested in SLI / Crossfire?

And when you say "£250 upwards", what is the range you're thinking about?

    Re: building pc

can you do crossfire with AMD APUs?

And do you really need 2 graphics cards? Just get one (better) GPU for the same price and it will be better, last longer, and usually has fewer driver issues.

What is your budget and what components do you need to get vs have already? You say £250 upwards, but what are you trying to buy with that?

    Re: building pc

A budget of "£250 upwards" is a bit tricky to help you with...an upper limit would make things much easier? Also, I assume you already have other components such as case, PSU, storage, monitor, Keyboard etc? What resolution do you want to game at, and what sorts of games do you tend to play?

Yes you can, in AMD-speak it's called 'Dual Graphics'. They limit it to working with an APU & an R7 based card, I suppose to protect their discreet GPU market (or maybe the faster discreet cards are just too fast for the APU?). Anyway, the short answer is yes, but in a limited way

    Re: building pc

2 graphics cards are better than one (if they're of the same spec), but they would also be twice as expensive.

If you've got (for example) £100 to spend, you're probably better off buying one card @ £100 each than two cards @ £50 each.

    Re: building pc

    I'm thinking something like:

    CPU: A8 7600 @ £75
    MB: Gigabyte GA-F2A58M-HD2 @ £35
    RAM: 1*4GB DDR3 @ £30

(although I'm sure someone can squeeze some more value, I've just looked at Scan and FM2+)

That's £140, then you can use the remaining £110 on case, small SSD or decent HDD, and PSU.

If you need a Windows license as well, OP, that's going to be tricky.

When you've got a bit more money, I would add in a dedicated graphics card and another 4GB stick of RAM.
