    CoD: Advanced Warfare

Picked up the new CoD yesterday after seeing some positive reviews, other than few performance issues it seems like good fun, a return to form for the series after a few disappointing entries! The boosting/double jumps look to be great fun once I remember to actually use them...

    What are your thoughts?

I'm really enjoying this COD, suprised there wasn't a meltdown with the servers, I'm curious as to how many they've sold this time round.

Generally I'm always playing Domination but I quite like the Infected game mode, yeah you don't get much XP but it's a good laugh blasting someone close range with a shotgun when they only have a knife.

Haven't purchased the new Call of Duty, but it looks awesome, and I do plan on getting it soon. So, how's the gameplay? Is it still Call Of Duty status with a nice sci-fi twist to it. Or did they totally change things up?

    Re: CoD: Advanced Warfare

Definitely a game worth buying if you enjoyed Modern Warfare. HOWEVER the new added mobility can be a downside as it rewards the run and gun sort of playstyle and all others tend to be weaker because of that. All in all if you liked COD games before and you like futuristic type fps you're gonna have a blast.

    Re: CoD: Advanced Warfare

It's definitely Call of Duty status with added elements, but they did a good enough job building the mechanics in that it really augments the experience.

I didn't get a chance to play more yesterday, but I'm hoping to fiddle with the settings to get rid of any performance issues (hopefully drivers will be out soon) and give it another go!

I guess you just found a good reason to grab an upgrade. The r9 series are being sold at some really good deals right now so you might as well see if you find something you're happy with.

    Re: CoD: Advanced Warfare

Im glad I bought it on PC thats for sure. Firstly it looks a metric **** tonne better than last years £50.00 expansion pack (sarcasm) My only gripe with the game is that it is a bit too easy. By no means am I elite FPS. I do like FPS. However, it's pretty much impossible to run out of ammo in hardened mode. The hit boxes are pretty loose as well. It's a great run and gun game upto now. I think the new dev's have played it safe though on this one.

    Re: CoD: Advanced Warfare

From what I've seen of it so far it definitely looks like good fun, nice to see them finally taking some chances and varying things up a bit. Personally won't be buying until the dedicated servers they have said are in the works are included though, P2P is once again a large problem in AW I hear, even more so with the new movement I'm sure.

Ofcourse modding support would be nice but it seems devs are quite heavily against mods now for whatever reason, will just keep sticking to COD4 until the dedis are sorted.

Hope its decent on PC, sucks the proverbial on Xbox One, completely unplayable. I play with folks from all over the UK, everyone of us has a terrible connection.

I had CoD:MW3, it was an awesome game, really liked it, but unfortunately hated the community and the lack of policing when it came to dealing with cheats and hackers on the PC version. I can't see me going back to a CoD game now.

    Re: CoD: Advanced Warfare

Played a few hours after buying it based on all the good feedback but I got to say I am severely disappointed.

Graphics are sub-standard, gameplay is very choppy (while using 60% CPU and 40% GPU! - It was like running SLI/CF with an incompatible game but I only have 1 gfx card!) and it's more like quake than COD.
VRAM usage is very odd as well, I've seen it rise to 4GB while in the menus but not reach 3GB while in-game.

This is something I used to notice more on older games, during game play my VRAM would show about 50% to 80% in use and my GPU would be between 40% to 60% but as soon as I went into the main menu my VRAM would be used up fully and GPU utilisation would jump to 100% making my GPU fan ramp up to super loud, which when I was running a 6990 meant it was very loud indeed. Games are either coded better now or my current GPU is much quieter so I don't notice this as much.
