Have many people on here tried out the Far Cry 4 co-op mode yet? I had a friend down to stay last weekend, & we ended up playing about 20 hours of co-op overall! The games unfortunately doesn't allow two players to undertake the single-player story, but there's still plenty of fun to be had in the sandbox!
There are a few drawbacks to co-op play, however. The first problem we encountered was actually starting the co-op mode; you have to complete the first Act of the single-player game before you unlock the co-op option. This doesn't take all that long though (about an hour), & does serve as a useful introduction to the game, its controls & so on. The next problem was trying to activate co-op between UPlay friends. It was quite frustrating at first, but basically you have to invite your friend to your party, & then invite them to play the game. At least that's the conclusion we came to...despite going through the process several times, we quite often had to leave & restart the game before the two computers would sync up.
The next problem we found was that if you undertake certain quests in the game, the rewards only seem to go to the co-op host, not the client. The worst example of this are the quests to hunt the special items for Kyrat Fashion Week, which allow you to craft the best items. If you kill the required animal in co-op, only the host gets the item. Not only that, but that same quest WON'T be available to the client player when they go back to their single-player game. My mate was really P***ed off to discover that! So basically, it's best to do the Fashion Week quests in single-player only, unless your co-op partner doesn't mind missing out.
We found similar problems with the collectables too, like masks & propaganda posters - the client co-op player won't get these added to their collection, although I think they are still available to them in their single-player game.
All in all, the co-op experience of Far Cry 4 is still a blast, quite literally! The joy in taking out a convoy of bad guys from a Buzzer using a couple of RPGs is definitely something worth experiencing, as is charging into an enemy base on the back of an elephant!
