    Cobra Maneuver in LOMAC

Just a quick request for a LOMAC n00b...

Having taken a look at the Maximum G video I thought I'd give the cobra maneuver a go... Apparently "K" is the key set for this. No problems so far, I am managing to pull the move off - the problem is I keep doing it afterwards when I really don't want to. Am I being an ass and it just toggles? (I am sleep deprived and its doing funny things to my brain) Or is there something I am missing, despite my efforts.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Press K and pull back at low speed, you'll perform the Kobra then, it should only do it once after you have pressed k. You have to press k again to do it again.

9/10 it's a useless move though, although it looks good etc.

You lose so much speed out of it, and you have to be going pretty damn slow in the first place, you become a sitting duck.

I've yet to really get to grips with Lock On, it was just something I wanted to get to grips with if possible, to be honest I'm more a fan of IL2 - "simple" flying ... or rather the purest form of air combat.

Don't get me wrong, LockOn is definately a fab flightsim, just thought I would offer that advice to save you practicing something you will rarely use

But yeah, IL-2 > LockOn (Don't let Lowe hear you say that!!)

    Oi

If you keep doing it afterwards, more than likely you've not got enough airspeed to carry on normal flight. You end up in a state where you're just about airborne and staying in the air due to having such uber engines. However it'll take a long time to build up your E again, so dip the nose and then you'll find you're back to normal again. Obviously this isn't wise at low altitudes...

Problem with Lock-On was that it was never finished, Ubi said 'release it NOW' and the developers had to do it regardless of what they still had left to do. It is good, but it could be so much better. Without any dynamic campaign structure the missions are very much lacking in any sort of atmosphere, and it still requires a very expensive PC to get the most out of it.

It will always stay on my hard drive, because its a great jet-sim and the nearest any of us will get to flying an A-10

Yea you're right Skii. The problem with Lock-On at the moment for me and a fair few others is that it dosn't work full stop, apparantly this is fixed in the Flaming Cliffs expansion, so I can't wait for it's release. Personally I prefer the SU-25 over the A-10 due to it's much larger range of ordinace, laser, guided weapons and speed. You can miss the handling of the A-10 when you're in it however, especially during slower speed regimes.

A-10 is a bit more forgiving if your caught out with sneaky AAA, and you can actually fly a decent sortie without the need for huge tanks!

Yup, we do like the A-10. Starting to get back into it all now - carrier landings and all!! Still getting some lag flying through smoke - but then I've maxed out the settings pretty much - we like pretty sims!
