Face Track, TrackIR or DIY TrackIR

I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with head tracking software?

I like the Track IR set up but the cost of purchase is putting me off. Is it really worth the price tag.

Alternatively has anyone made their own Track IR head sets and used the free open source program.

Lastly I have see Face Track which is free and requires you not to wear any headsets or stick led's to your hat or headset.

Is Face Track just as good as the others or is it worth sending the £100+ price tag on the Track IR kit?

I have watched most of the youtube videos however I am just wondering what the majority of people here actually think.

What I might actually do is start with Face Track and see how i get on with that. If i feel that it's not responsive enough I will build my own head gear with LEDs.
