if you click on the building that has been abandoned or burnt down, there's a little icon on the left near the top that you can hover over which will tell you why.

    Ermahgerd, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Started another map last night, really loving it. Designing this one much better than the last, using space much better and leaving no gaps. Everyone seems happy and it's growing very well! Gonna get home later and post up some stats.

    Re: Cities: Skylines

I am really struggling with zone placement and extending then "upgrading" areas. The worst bit is the initial motorway connection ramps and main thoroughfare, though I have seen a few roundabouts that I want to try...

Edit: I think my issue is trying to cram too much into too little space. It seems I need to try leaving space between roads and developments to allow room to grow in size. That should allow me to upgrade from 2 lanes to 4 / 6?

    How you all getting on?

    Re: Cities: Skylines

Wish I never bought the game now lol. I'm hooked.

I need to start from scratch, I developed my city well. Was raking in $3,000+ with a small pop (no cheats lol)

Then it turns out as my pop increased, it became a logistical nightmare for my garbage disposal folk, despite placing 4/5 of them around the city it wasn't improving the situation.

Folk were getting sick and dying lol.

    Re: Cities: Skylines

Was playing last night. City has hit 47,000 people, still growing and on about $10,000 a week profit.

Traffic going into downtown is a major issue, I bulldozed and redid the whole zone twice and still can't crack it.

    Re: Cities: Skylines

    Re traffic

    I use a hierachy system.

-> Main Road (3 Lane and above)
-> Residential and Comm (2 Lanes)
-> Industry (2 Lane and Dirt Road)

I stick to using straight or curved roads, I try and avoid 4 way intersections and the likes. Try and keep a constant flow of traffic. I haven't got a big city as of yet so not sure how my plan will work on a bigger scale.

I'll try and get some screen shots once I've started from scratch as I need to lol

Do people use cheats at all? or Mods?

    Re: Cities: Skylines

I'm using a few mods but none of them 'cheats' - Well auto bulldoze is one I guess as you are quickly sorting a problem that leads to reduced land value but man when city gets big keeping on top of abandoned buildings its a right pain.

A very cool map - nice layout, starting lake gives auto hydro power when you unlock it
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=406001868

All Spaces Unlocked - I've not got to 9 tiles yet but this will allow me to get MORE!!
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=403798635

Tree Brush - Being able to paint trees is great, single tree placement is depressing
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=406723376

Automatic Bulldoze - As said above, kind of a cheat but i CBA to keep on top of them
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=406132323

Extended Road Upgrade - Allows you to upgrade roads between 1 and 2 way or change the direction of the 1 way
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=408209297

Extended Public Transport UI - Haven't tried it yet, more information on public transport will always be nice tho!
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=411164732

Traffic Reporting Tool - Helps find out why things are bottlenecking
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=408092246

Achievement Enabler for Mods - Allows you to continue to get achivements while using the above mods.

Gula (SimCity artist) keeps releasing new buildings as well:

I use most of them except the first two and Public Transport UI, Traffic Reporting Tool. I'll give the tool one a try. And I'll try subscribing to the Gula one.

    Re: Cities: Skylines

I have been looking at this since release and watching some ppl play it on twitch.

I bought SImcity when it came out and Because of the tiny map space I always felt that it was going to turn into a pack everything in close game with no room for sweeping roads etc.

I think payday this will be mine
