Gaming HTPC vs streaming box vs long cables?
I've been trying to get back into gaming recently. I have a pretty decent PC to play on upstairs plus a large collection of spare parts that would be more than good enough - with a new GFX card thrown in - to put together a gaming HTPC but I'm wondering if I should even bother with a dedicated PC.
The real push behind this is that I - and the rest of the family - would be much happier with me playing games downstairs in the evenings.
PC wise the only current title I'm (currently) playing is Fallout 4, though I have a few recent-ish games in Steam that I haven't made time for (at all, as yet).
Outside of FO4 I tend to play older games via various emulators as they're more in tune with my free time (pick up and play, put down again).
I already have a 'smart' TV that takes care of most of my media needs - netflix, etc.
So thoughts please - a dedicated PC in the living room vs a local streaming box (e.g. steam link, nvidia shield TV) vs just running some long cables (e.g a 5m HDMI and a 5m USB cable connected to a hub).
Thanks

If you can get the cable trunking sorted without other family members getting annoyed at the aesthetics, long cables are always better than streaming. There will always be lags/drops when going wireless.

another vote for the 5m cable, try that first pick up a xbox controler or ebay wireless adapter and its done for less than £20
