I'm downloading it now.
I'll be here my name is outwar6010 on pretty much everything.
haven't even played it yet and i'm so close to uninstalling it already!
so far i've had a surprise uplay install, game launching in windowed mode, an unskippable tutorial and i finally get the option to configure the game, put it in fullscreen and it crashes. :censored:
Ive been interested in this a good while, might give it a go tonight and see how it is.
For those who have played, how much single player mileage is there in this? Looks like something I might enjoy, but if it really requires team PvE or PvP to be worthwhile I'll probably pass it by (my gaming now tends to be sporadic, so I need something I cna drop out of for 6 months without feeling like I'm missing anything or letting anyone down ;) ).
I think there are a couple of co-op missions in the beta, I'm not sure how big the actual finished game will be. It's basically a loot collection exercise, a bit like Borderlands I think. I haven't tried the Dark Zone PvP section, but that might have have some reply value.
Played closed BETA, was seriously impressed with the single player side (awesome graphics, good story, fun gameplay mechanics, etc) but not so impressed with the "dark zone". I imagine it will turn into a griefer infested, free-for-all where nasty people win and the rest of us who don't like ruining other people's gameplay lose out.
Not sure why they didn't make it team based so it's at least a little bit fair? Right now, you get a group of nasties running around and they win everything, so no point going in there unless you're in a group or don't mind being griefed and losing all the time.
Just read they've increased the reward for going Rogue, so expect more "nasties" than before. Not sure if I'll buy it if there isn't enough PvE content as I won't be able to enjoy the Dark Zone as it is.
Playing it earlier and its awesome. This will be bought. Looks to have a lot of depth to it.
So they've pretty much made the Dark Zone impossible to play without a group now... a group of 4 NPC's turn up out of nowhere when you call for an extraction.
That, along with uncertainty about PvE longevity, bugs, sluggish controls and all the other problems typically related to PC games that are also released on consoles (i.e. ports, although they claim this isn't a port), I am certainly not pre-ordering, let alone buying after release for full price. Maybe in 6 months when they've (no doubt) released £100 worth of DLC, there's raving reviews confirming it's bug free and there's a GotY edition on sale for £20...
Can anyone tell I'm getting bitter about the state of PC gaming? :D
I have been playing it for the last t hours and not had any issues with bug or sluggish controls. Been running a dream the whole time.
The dead zone has been fun as I ran about myself for a bit and helped kill some rogue agents with another team. I hang about some extractions by other teams and only once had a team of 4 npcs arrive. They were easy to kill as they were in dead zone 1 which had level 1 to 4 npcs in it.
Now back in the main area, doing some side missions.
All good fun.
Just played for an hour or so :)
Only problem i had was 1st starting with a really high setting but managed to sort that ! I am running on a mix setting of Ultra and high with a fps of a steady 40 !
I thought you need a fairly high spec rig to play but im having a ball but still trying to get use to the grenade throwing and crouching .....
Tomorrow i will trying this on a AMD 270X with the rest basically the same spec as my system !
Edit ! fps now steady between 50/60 after tweaking the shadows !
After the beta I'm Glad I cancelled my pre-order. I will say Nice graphics and sounds, but nah, not one for me.
Where can you download the beta from?
steam i got mine !
This is running nice with a AMD 270X running mostly on high setting 1980x1020 on my oldest boy's computer !
Again 40/50 fps !!
I thought it was suppose to be a bit hungry on the cards but then again i did see this with the BF4 beta ..
I will buy this but only when its on a sale !
Cancelled my pre-order, to much of a run / hide shooter (like we need more of them) than a game with any depth, definately not worth the asking prices, might come back to it when it's <£10.
Sounds disappointing, shame as was tempted by the nvidia offer
Many thanks to outwar6010 for showing me and the wife the ropes. Was pretty fun running round in a group of 3 in the pve area. Didnt try the pvp area.
Biggest issue was trying to get acceptable frame rates, had to run everything on Low to get 40 fps and the gfx driver needs some work as it would just not use the 2nd GPU which was a little disappointing but I appreciate it is still beta.
Nice that the second beta almost fixed SLI (after 3-4 hours, the SLI bug came back, a restart of the game fixed it).
Quite enjoyable in a group but limited to 4-man groups is a bit of a let-down.....plus I am concerned about how much mileage the game has.
My thoughts in no particular order;
After about 4 and a half hours, struggling through persistent seemingly driver related crashes, I can safely say I'll be logging into The Division on launch day.
Although I didn't have one single "WOW I must play this!" moment there was a constant stream of things I liked that convinced me this is a game worth playing.
The beta felt more like a demo then a real test. Would of been great to start at level 1 for the sake of the story/intro.
Content was limited and I really felt there could of been more mobs hanging around the streets to shoot.
Technically I was very impressed with the graphics, sounds (maybe not the voice acting), world free of loading screens, ease in linking up with friends, intricate details of the maps. Being able to shot out individual tyres/ lights on cars was very cool too.
The story and atmosphere were great. This is probably the most promising new gameworld I've entered, especially for an online game, in a very long time.
The idea of having your own Base of Operations was great. Combined with the different type of missions, coop PvE, PvP, random encounters with named mobs, resources collection and investigation I found the gameplay really enjoyable.
UI and controls seemed geared to gamepads. Couldn't understand some of the bindings. Control for jump/ space for cover seemed really weird. Changed those around quickly.
Overall solid 7/10 so far. Expect it to be even better at launch :)
Can you suggest what games this is similar to? Would like to try the beta but dont have fast enough broadband to download in time. I have heard comparisons with gears of war for the shooting elements and Destiny (which I havent played) for the multiplayer.
So, anyone been playing this since the games full release?
I didn't play the beta so went into this not knowing what to expect, having not really seen any videos of it either.
I'm about 25 hours in and rank 20 and so far still enjoying it, playing all the missions on hard for an extra challenge as well as doing all the encounters / side missions and the collectable side of it too...
Yes played the beta and enjoyed it - maybe not to pay the full price for - I`m going to upgrade one of my graphics cards and pick up a free copy with Nvidia`s offer
