Just bought it with it only being £22, 52Gb download.
Will post up what I find some point tomorrow, I will be running it 1920x1080 on a Sapphire Radeon R9 380 Nitro 4Gb, FX 8350 and 8Gb system ram. Fingers crossed it will be fine as I do like a bit of Gears

Unlike Ashes of the Singularity or Fable Legends, Gears of War Ultimate Edition was never designed to be a DX12 — or even a DX11 — title. When Digital Foundry reviewed the game last August, it noted:
While Gears of War 4 is in development using Unreal Engine 4, Gears Ultimate instead opts for more familiar ground – the original 2006 source code. From the beginning, the Ultimate Edition was designed to capture the original experience as accurately as possible while updating its presentation for the current generation. More recent versions of Unreal Engine 3, and even UE4, were considered early in development, but the decision to stick with the original codebase was made in order to preserve the original simulation. (emphasis added)
Gears of War Ultimate Edition isn’t a new implementation of a classic game, it’s built on the same source code and engine as its 10-year-old predecessor. That means everything The Coalition did to bring the game into the modern age, like adding 4K support and higher-quality textures, was done with a version of the Unreal Engine that was barely out of diapers. Not even the latest version of UE3 supports DX12 — but Microsoft decided to stuff it into a decade-old title and shove it into the Windows Store. However they hacked the engine to implement DirectX 12, there’s no way that the 2006-era Unreal engine could ever be considered a good candidate for the process.
I picked this up a while ago second-hand for XB1.....now I am glad I didn't wait for a shiny DX12 version!
Sounds like a bit of a bodge job

Well, it took one and a half days to download from the Win 10 Store, my connection runs at around 25 MBps so 55 Gb I normally start large downloads on Steam or Origin around 10pm and it would be ready come the morning. So obviously they aren't investing enough into bandwidth etc on that side of things
So performance running at max with motion blur turned off (always do this as personal preference), ran the benchmark and framerate all over the place from 30 up to 60 and loads of hitching & stuttering.
Then on the left side of the screen there are those black speccles as squares sitting over the image (around 2 inches square), I disabled AO and the AA (FXAA only option available) and those black speccles dissapeared.
So the game itself as benchmarks can occasionally be a bit deceptive, running at 1920x1080 highest setings with AO and FXAA disabled the hitching is even worse, whenever you get the Y prompt to look at something happening like chopper bombing run once you leave the cell you get bad hitching, follow the training way and when you reach first ammo box you get the familiar jingle, hit X to pickup said ammo and hitching so bad he starts the animation and it stuttered to being stood back up. Went down the corridor to room on right and really bad hitching and then gave up as unplayable in its current state.
Really hope there is a driver issued to fix this and also a patch, I do think that it is more dev side fault though as no other games on my system show any issues at all.
Thankfully I do have the original PC version installed on Windows 10 and it works perfectly, hope they get this sorted sooner rather than later
This is running loads better since Crimson Driver 16.3 landed yesterday, now playable with a few juddery stutters in weird non busy sections, but again it is now playable thankfully.
Mind you there is supposed to be a patch for it to address multiplayer matchmaking and also the Ambient Occlusion issue and GSync stuff but it is not showing as of yet, seems to be quite a few users not receiving this new patch.
There is just something really satifying about taking a Seeder out with the Hammer of Dawn, the roadie run and slamming into cover, active reloads and the likes, it is a modern classic
