It'll be interesting to see how they execute the WW1 theme/story if it turns out to be true. Reminds me of the original Medal of Honour and COD1,2,3 and BF 1942 early days.
They've just said that Battlefield Insiders will have access to the beta of BF1, so I'll be signing up :)
Re: Battlefield 5 World Première Event
Im officially excited about a game for the first time in ages.... however 'BF1'..... SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!?

meh. for me it'll be a wait and see but 4 was a waste of money, did they ever up the servers tick rate? only glimmer of hope I'm holding onto is that this will be on only 'next gen' consoles and PC so hopefully some design limitations from 3 & 4 will make it a more traditional BF game but I'm not holding my breath

Me too! So many unanswered questions though - choice of weapons (bolt action rifles were the norm), types of weapon sights (pretty much iron sights all round), other weapon customisations? And the tanks...how the hell did you take out a tank in WW1?! There weren't any RPGs in those days! What about the horses! Maybe we'll all be using 'horse-stuff' stuck to the poor animals! Not very humane though!

Yeah the servers got sorted out. The problem was that they tinkered with the gun balance so many times that every time I went in the game it was different.... I just gave up.

I think on the "Battlefield 1" name, MS/XBox probably have struck a deal with EA/Dice. I can imagine Phil Spencer and Major Nelson plugging the "Battlefield1/Xbox One" names a lot.. there was Xbox sponsorship in the background too. I would have gone for Battlefield: Great War/GW myself or simply Battlefield: WW1.
Re: Battlefield 5 World Première Event
Makes a nice change from the same usual setting.
Re: Battlefield 5 World Première Event
As a huge fan of the original Call of Duty, United Offensive and CoD 2, I was happy to hear that a new World War based FPS was coming out. However, being severely disappointed with anything CoD after Modern Warfare and everything Battlefield after BF3, I am not holding out for anything good to come from this. I do hope I am wrong though.
First thing that I noticed, "coming first to Xbox One". Thanks for that, we pay just as much as they do but we have to wait (I REALLY hate this kind of thing). Then there'll be the stupid price tag plus day or week one DLC, plus several future DLC packs bringing the TCO for BF1 close to £100. Dedicated servers? Probably not... Cross platform gaming? Probably not. Bugs? Loads of course. First week unplayable due to server load? Probably. No offline single player campaign? Most likely, it seems that big companies are going this way to avoid piracy.
I will not pre-order this, no matter how good it looks. But judging by this thread and other sites, hype is already going through the roof and people will throw endless amounts of cash towards EA for pointless pre-order bonuses meaning they yet again won't have to release a decent product as they are already swimming in your money.
