Never got into LoL - had too many friends who played for a bit then dropped it complaining about the community being rather toxic. Has it improved over the last few years?
Yes it is. Only the RP (points) are DLC style which you can either earn or purchase, but you don't need them (at the start).
Anyone like to form a Hexus LoL club?
Been playing it a few days. Generally just doing one a day now, seems very repetitive.
Also made it to Level 7 apparently. Discovering even more issues though.
Latest one is that only one player can be any given Champion at once. So if you aren't lightning fast in selecting your Avatar then suddenly you have no idea what to play. As it takes long enough to learn 1 character there's no way I want to be forced to choose something random.
Then there's no way to "back out" of that game, so you have to terminate the session. Then you can't play again for 5 minutes. /doh!
It's "interesting" but compared to Witcher (other game I'm playing) it's a "subgame" you'd play on a side-quest. Or it's like 1/1,000,000th of the content of World of Warcraft.
Had my first go at 5v5 PvP today. Probably the most fun so far, but it took 10-15 minutes from signing up to play starting, by then I was ready to turn it off.
Then 1 player on our team disconnected and was stuck at level 6. Therefore we didn't have a chance and got beat. Unlike WoW / other games it seems players can't be replaced.
Enjoyed the PvP aspect though and can see how it's a game of trying to make zero mistakes. Got a few player kills and was far from the worst on the team.
Yes, I too find the lag to 'fire up a game' to be rather off-putting. It also takes about 10-15 mins from having started (and by that time your first tower is about to come down) before you can get a feel for the team you have. Usually by then it's possible to judge if you have any chance of winning etc.
Seems bit of an odd choice to force everyone to play till the end, but at least there's the option for the loosing team to vote to 'end it'. Disconnects can be brutal though, for those stuck in the game.
I'm keen to like this game. But it's hard when it doesn't even give you a chance. I've had 6/7 PvP games now and lost every single one of them. None of them were even close and after 5 minutes you know you are finished, yet have to play for another 20+ minutes of just getting killed over and over.
I even purchased Ashe and tried playing with her, but the same depressing cycle of losses. And I'm not even the worst player on the team.
I've tried.... But unless you have a few friends that play (like it seems everyone I get matched with has) it's just morally crippling.
Sorry to hear that Andy. I just had a rather epic run today, probably the strangest episode.
The other-team had leveled up rather well, and they had started to hit our base from the mid/bottom. I managed to turn the tide last minute through mid, straight into their base.
The highest I've gotten too so far,
Yes, I've heard that most tend to form clubs and play with friends, and they generally have a better time at it.
Further annoyance on LoL is having separate 'servers' and having to register a separate account on each (as needed) - seems I have a few people asking to play on EUW (Turbinator!) and my account was setup on North America. *groan*.
Lately, joining PvP games has also taken around 5-6 mins, and by the time we land at the fountain it is about a 10-15 min wait.
I also lost out on Guren in the last game and was utterly hopeless as Warwick.
