James donkey 112 Mouse review 3 weeks in the making.
OK, first things first , this mouse isn't made my an indipendant manufacturer from Preston, as the name would suggest but rather its from china or a bouts that area.
<sigh> really hoped with a name like that it was going to be an actual guy designing it that said things like Toven rather than oven.
However back to the review:
Ok for the huge price tag of (Ebay) £9.98 + free postage and packaging lets start this review.
Std 6 button mouse with dpi of 1000 / 1600 / 2000 (just the 3 choices and by default its 1600dpi )
Packaging is very good to say the least .... much better than mice costing 5 times as much.
The narrow black package is unclear if your getting a watch / some posh after shave or a mouse until you open the box after cutting the yellow seal and pulling the nice yellow slide tab out..... siding the contents out of the narrow box, your greeted with a perfectly packaged mouse with no foam or anything excessive (just a package with a loose plastic cover) yet it still feels wonderfly packaged due to the black box printed with the logo in black and every bit perfectly matching the contents in colour and branding.
Incidentally all diagrams instruction are in Chinese but how hard is it to use a mouse?, no software either.
Ok out of the box:
weighing in at 115..to.. 120 grams (digital scales are playing up here)
It's not a bad weight ... a little back heavy but more than usable on a flat surface.
My main niggle is the diamond profile rubber yellow cord......... awful, yes its soft and flexible but it's going to grab every little bit of dirt or dust from your desktop and look pants in no time (should have been corded! but its made of the same soft rubber that's used on the side grips so colour and looks wise it does make sense), the bends in it from packaging take ages to ease out of the figure of 8 twist tie (even this is a matching yellow).
Fist impressions are good/ great it fits your palm and a claw grips easily and the soft squidgy rubber sides work to keep a good hold, in some reviews this actually looks like an old school bmx mushroom grip but ......it isn't it's flat and just soft, the texture you see is under a clear soft layer and the colour is a ribbed yellow under that.
Buttons all feel good : top , left, .. right nice and easy , wheel a lot firmer but scrolls nice and the forward and back buttons on the left side while not instant but are responsive however require a little more pressure than the left and right clicks, not a bad thing as in games these being too easy to click can be a pain in the backside.
Comfort, having had this mouse for 3 week I can say the comfort is excellent, it's the first mouse Ive had for a while that hasn't had the matt black all over rubber coating but no hand stiffness and I do get that , only down side is the soft/ squidgy rubber sides show the dirt, I tend to use a few different grips depending what I'm doing on a pc, this is very comfy for all (if your right handed).
palm if you extend your fingers forward its better than a razer and feels very similar with is scooped finger buttons but they are sloping for lazy use more curve to the switches and nice palm rest for the heal of your hand.
Claw grip it's perfect,
Looks, looking a bit iron man from the back the shape doesn't scream comfort yet its is very comfy indeed, the model I have is the black one with stark yellow sides and a not too over powering yellow light that can be turned off if you want, there's a switch on the underside for the yellow led if required), in 3 weeks its not lost any of its feel but it is getting a touch shiny on the left button at the side of the wheel, still feels great and its not slippy just the profile of the switch makes your finger clicks move to the left as its peaked in the centre from the wheel on both sides (not quite as comfy as an old razer with its scalloped buttons but I've not had sweaty fingers using this ...... I have with a razer.
So what can I say about this mouse?.
It's still early days yet, but ..yes it does show signs of wear, it still works great like the day it came out of the box, comfort is second to none,is flash but not to everyone's taste because it's just yellow on black, it's not rubbery mat black, it doesn't have a braided snag free cable.
But ........... for the money its the best mouse I've used in ages, I would say it beats most mice up to the £50 mark.
And that's a great feat for a mouse costing a tenner (£10).
.............. added 5 months later:
Mouse still working pefect, however the texture has worn off the right and left buttons and the gel like grips on the sides look desgusting....... like a 40 a day smoker (I only smoke about 20 a day so it's not great).
However that said it's working just as good as the day I bought it and also I've noticed you can get this in black body and dark grey gel sides now with <praise the lord> a black braided cable if you want to risk £10 on ebay from hong kong.
All in all a great mouse for the money .... you can't beat it.
Re: Real reviews no1 (James Donkey 112 Mouse)
hello Rhubarb
you might want to edit a few of the spelling mistakes, tidy up the grammar a little and then you've got yourself a half way decent review there.
Might be worth noting that you posted it today but have added 5 months later to it... so I assume you typed it all up somewhere else and then posted it here way after.
May I ask where else you typed it? Is it online elsewhere?
Re: Real reviews no1 (James Donkey 112 Mouse)
Apart from my Facebook , it's no where else online.
