Terrible connection to Battlefield 1 Servers

Over the past couple of weeks I've been having terrible connections to the EA BF1 servers, so much so that the game is basically unplayable. Although ping times are reported as being fairly low in the games browser (say, 20-40ms), once I start playing a game, ping times can spike up to 400-700ms +. I seem to be getting a lot of packet loss too.

Can anyone tell me how I can check whether the problem is at my end, or whether it's a problem with my ISP? I don't think it's a problem with the EA servers, it seems to happen with just about every server I try.

Thank in advance for your help!

Hard to say. Chatter says it's worse since the last update.
All sorts of bad connections lately - how are other games ?
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

I think it's okay now...the one thing I hadn't tried was to turn the Openreach modem off & on again. The connection is a lot better since doing so. Funny though, I don't think I've reset it in about 18 months.
