Recommended system for IL-2 and FB + PF!

    Hi all,
I'm totally hooked with IL-2, and with FB and Pacific Fighters going to be purchased soon, I need a better/faster system on which to play them. Question is, with a fairly limited budget, what do I need to get to play them well, at a nice resolution (1024*768 prefereably), maybe even with some AA!
Would I get away with something like an Athlon 64 3000+ socket 939, and an AGP Radeon 9800 Pro or similiar? Probably with a gig of ram....

Tell me your thoughts please...I'm open to suggestions....

    easily..

Got to be a gig of RAM, but otherwise the rest is fine I'd say.

I play on an XP2200, Ti4200, with a gig of RAM and as long as I don't want perfect trees etc, its more than adequate at 1024x768

The Gig of Ram is the most important thing. Next up would be the best GFX you can afford although, it will play well enough on all but the most basic cards.

I have a 9800pro.. works loverly in perfick mode (with the appropriate config tweaks )

other bits are an XP2100+, 1GB RAM and an OLD MB.... faster HDD helped loads as well... and i mean 4/5fps improvement with just that....

now if il2 /fb is the only game you play then yes the 9800 pro is fine but a 6600 from nvidia will be better though I think (Zak will confirm this) nvidias donrt render the water as nicely as the ati cards but the 6600 wil be better in other game than the 9800 pro. However if you got a 9800 pro already then the improvement a 6600 would give you isnt worth the money you'd spent on it.

I'm running on an XP2000, 768mb RAM, 6600GT AGP and I've had a massive FPS boost going from a 9600 std 256mb to that 6600GT.

I'm running on perfect, full everything, 2xAA, 4xAF at 1024x768 and am getting 30+FPS throughout - even when hosting games with 18+ people on my 1mbit line 30 FPS is fine on this game too - as the action isn't as fast as UT or other fps's.

The water looks better on ATi cards - much much better, but, like McMav said, if you play other games too, the 6600GT is the better card when compared to the 9800 Pro - but there isn't a lot in it.

The rest of the guys have got it right too - RAM first, a gig of PC3200 is fine, then graphics power, 9800pro/6600GT, then a decent CPU, Athlon 64 is more than enough

You would quite easily get away with running it on a system like the one you describe - very easily infact, as long as you get a gig of ram

The long flight back to base will consist of checking your fuel gauge, oil temp and water temp, plus checking your six to make sure no one is chasing.

I guess you only fly on your own mav?

Right...currently the hardware is up to :

    Athlon XP 2400+ @ 2.ghz, 1gig PC2700 ram.....and a Radeon X800 Pro!!!
Still getting a few bits where the gfx run slowly!?!?! What's that about?
Any tweaks you guys can offer, like tweaks to the actual ini files...???
