Well spotted, you're right, this is more than meets the eye! It is neither DLC nor a traditional Demo as it's £11.99 normally.
It appears you have access to what everyone else does with the base game but somehow restricted. If I'm honest I can't make head nor tail of it as it's all just marketing speak.

Gearbox states:

Godfall: Challenger Edition empowers players to jump into the entirety of Godfall’s Endgame as a standalone experience with other players or solo, and provides a plethora of features that makes the journey compelling. Players will have the ability to take on Godfall’s most challenging modes – Ascended Tower of Trials, Lightbringer & Dreamstones – unlock all 12 Valorplates, tackle 450 Ascension Levels, and find the best gear via the newly added Quests system.

It's like you get access to the multiplayer but not the single player story that leads up to it. Several games seem to be going this way (Halo for eg.) where they provide free access to multiplayer but charge for the campaign.

I've been thinking of giving Godfall a go for a while now, so this would be a good chance to finally cave. Does anyone have any opinions on the game that I should know of? I feel like it sorta passed under the radar. Is there a reason for that?

Not my type of game. All I can suggest is checking out some recent gameplay/review videos on YouTube. Or just jump head first into the deep end as it's free. You can always delete it from your account if you don't like it later.

Fair enough. I've put it on download, guess I'll see how I like it. I am a big fan of melee games (Souls veteran), so if it gets that right I might have a good time. Thanks for the reply!
