    Betrayer free on GoG

    https://www.gog.com/en/game/betrayer

Betrayer is a first person action adventure game that takes you to the New World at the turn of the 17th century.

The year is 1604. You sailed from England expecting to join a struggling colony on the coast of Virginia. Instead, you find only ghosts and mysteries. What catastrophe blighted the land and drained it of color and life? Where are the settlers and tribes who lived here?

Clue by clue, you must piece together the story of what befell this doomed settlement and find a way to set things right. You will be hunted by corrupted Conquistadors and ravening shadows as you explore an expansive wilderness in order to trace the brief, tragic history of the colony and search for survivors.

For anyone with an Amazon Prime account there are a few freebies, Too many to post all the links so take a look, they mostly seem to be Amazon codes rather than Steam/GoG

I was tempted to Free-trial it just to re-play The Force Unleashed... but there's NO way I'm installing Amazon's own gaming platform.
I'll wait for Steam or Epic to give it away instead.

Yeah I've never bothered either, I use my in-laws account to get any codes that take my fancy.

Personally, I've not heard of it, and even I am at the point where I probably have more games to play than I'm ever likely to get time to complete. It didn't stop me sticking the Myst 25th Anniversary collection in my collection a few days ago, because I enjoy them when I'm in the mood for that type of game.

So I've reached the point where I only go for "free" games if they're games I might well have actually bought. Dig 2 may be a great game but, I've got those I know I want to play so it'd sit so far down my priority list that I doubt I'd ever get around to it anyway.

Of course, I have that long backlog of games because I took quite a long break from games before changed circumstances finally got me to grit my teeth over Steam, because of the sheer usefulness of Steamdeck to me. GOG, on the other hand, Ive got a few more of those than on Steam, and some no doubt could be used on the Steamdeck, but I've not (yet) got round to trying that, either.

Steamworld Dig 1 & 2 on the Deck are great, controls make it so much more fun.

    Re: Free Games

Thanks, Rob. It just (AIUI) means I have to get around to picking an 'emulator', installing it working out how to load/select games. I'm being lazy right now though, and just sticking to a couple of things I have on Steam .... currently, Stray.

    Re: Free Games

For GoG/Epic just install Heroic from the desktop, log in, and that's pretty much it for most games on those launchers, you can then launch Heroic from your normal SteamOS launcher so never need to go into Desktop again if you don't want to.

    Re: Free Games

Does it make any difference that I don't use the GoG launcher (Galaxy)? I install manually. I also don't use Epic at all, so that's not an issue.

    Re: Free Games

Heroic launches games for you, so you install heroic, log into your gog account through heroic and your games appear. You can then set shortcuts to launch heroic or any of the games you've installed via Steamos so they appear on your normal Deck homepage

Build even more complex railway networks than ever before! Building on the success of the original, you’ll get more of what you loved about the original and then some. With increasingly difficult and complex challenges from local industries, the Valley has never felt so vast!
