Beyond a Steel Sky
This is slightly old news but couldnt see it mentioned, I just stumbled upon Beyond a Steel Sky on Steam - a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky.
If you've not played the original, head over to GOG where you can get it for free:

I only played the original in the last 5 years or so, and what a great game it was. It has not aged badly at all, I really like 80s/90s point n click titles. The story is gripping, which sadly meant I used a walkthrough on a couple of occasions because I was engrossed in the story and I was upsetting the flow.
Beyond a Steel Sky seems to be gaining traction for a release fairly soon, there's a number of recent gameplay videos on Youtube.
Obviously they couldn't help themselves but to go 3D for this one, so it will be interesting if it can hold it's own. The visuals do look very good it has to be said. I've decided not to watch the gameplay videos as I'll likely buy it.
I'll leave the trailer here at least.

Re: Beyond a Steel Sky
I really, really want this to be good. I'm a big fan of the original and the Broken Sword series so I'll be playing this as soon as humanly possible. Fingers crossed they nail it, even if only in hope rather than expectation.

Re: Beyond a Steel Sky
Beneath a Steel Sky is one of my favorite games, it's cool to hear they're working on a sequel but yeah, it looks nothing like the original.

Re: Beyond a Steel Sky
Here's the official updates, albeit a little thin on the ground.
They delayed it back in December, expecting an early 2020 release before Covid struck

Possibly a late summer or autumn release after Covid....

Re: Beyond a Steel Sky
Thanks for pointing this out, AGTDenton, I was a big fan of the original back in my Amiga 500 days, so am obviously very interested in a sequel.
It's out now and the reviews are a bit mixed, with a Metacritic score of 72%, but the couple I've looked at suggest fans of the original will still enjoy their trip back to the city. 30 quid for a slightly flawed game is a bit steep for me, but I'll definitely look to pick it up later, when it's on sale.

Re: Beyond a Steel Sky
Didn't realise I already owned BASS1, as I have GOG filtered to only show what's currently installed.
Now I feel silly...
Guess I'll be playing that this weekend, so long as the heatwave doesn't bake my PC...
