How do you level up so quickly? *tips*

    Hi,
Everytime I see people in Hexus Horde they seemed to have gained a level! People seem to be levelling up really fast so I was wondering what Im doing wrong?

    - On average I play 3-4 hours a night (If Im lucky) and some weekends
    - I do quests but it takes a while to complete them
    - Most of my XP comes from killing monsters a few levels above me, this seems to be the best way to get XP
    - I dont do dungeons as grouping with 5 others doesnt seem to raise much xp at all, I did an hour of WC and didnt get much out of it apart from alot of damage

Any tips on how to go for XP?
Money wise I seem to be fine

Try pairing up on quests, although you share the xp of beats / humanoids killed on quests, you complete the quest faster.......

If the quest comes up as grey - you will virtually get no xp from it

Green / yellow / orange / red are the stages of amount of xp given from the quest - this is dependant on your current level and also shows the amount of danger and chance of success.......

Whenever you log out, do it in an Inn or Big City, this will help you gain XP faster the next time u log in.

Use thotbot whenever you are struggling on a quest, i try not to use it all the time as sometimes it can take the fun element away. Could save an hour of searching if u use thotbot.....

Mobs your level or one below give much better xp/effort than higher level mobs. The xp increase for orange cons isn't that much but the effort to kill is much higher. I often go for high greens because the kill speed is so high that it works out faster than yellows.

Yeah, if you want to level fast you need to grind (kill kill and kill some more) things a couple levels lower than than you, and you need to do it solo, grouping is not the fastest way to level up.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

    Hi,
I didnt realise about the colours, it took me ages to get the warsong reports quest done and then I only got 700 Xp after all that time! - thats a good tip

low level mobs - its a good idea razormanes are gonna get it tonight.

interesting that its grinding killing of monsters and not dungeons or groups that get you xp, I kind of realised this but still though there was some magical secret to going to dungeons ..or so I thought - still my skinning is going up daily - 162 now

Dungeons can be goot - elites are double (I think or at least a lot more) xp compared to normal mobs. Plus they drop more loot.

My advice would be to take your time - we are all going to get to lvl60 one day.
Enjoy the game and don't worry about it....

Dungeons are good for drops, quest rewards and vending loot! I'd also agree it's better to kill 2 lower level mobs in less hits than it is to struggle against higher level mobs for a bit of extra exp. Besides, if you get 2 on you at a higher or equal level it can be quite difficult, depending on your class.

I suppose one reason why there are so many high level people is because they have a lot of spare time perhaps? I would probably be a LOT higher if I had concentrated on one char, but I get bored easily and prefer variety, which is why I have an Undead Rogue, an Undead Mage, an Undead Warlock, a Tauren Druid, a Tauren Shamen, a Troll Hunter and an Orc Warrior. Most of those chars are above lvl 10, one is lvl 17, one is nearly lvl 24 and my highest is very nearly lvl 31!

Yeah, I only play my mage, if you split your time over 8 characters you'll level a lot slower than just playing one. For me mage is so fun I haven't wanted to play an alt at all really.

I struggle with Keri though as she's lvl 23 and I can't seem to group with anyone. Would love to get her further but solo'ing is quite difficult for me as a mage. Suppose it's a lot easier for your guys since you're all a similar level and grouping is much easier!

There are often several quests in the same area, one may be to retrieve an object, one might be kill xxx of a mob. take one several and work through them. Using thottbot to find the quests for a given area is a good technique. I've done very little grinding for XP. Only for the last 20K needed for lvl 50, and I found it very boring. Questing has been most successful for me, especially those which involve killing in the process. Try to explore all the areas available to your level, that will give you more quests.

I can't get my head round using thottbot to find out where quests are, seem to waste a lot of time using it. Also waste a lot of time going over areas twice to do different quests. I have too many quests in my quest log as it is, they all seems to be in different areas too! I can't imagine what it will be like when I get to 40 and over, if I ever get there!

I think its different play styles.

If I am playing the same time as Mattak, with Lilith also on I know I lose ground exp wise.

Why? Well, not 100% sure. I think Lil is questing all the time..not doing stuff, ie killing mobs, apart from to complete quests. I must admit I am rather in awe of Teepee's gaming prowess

What am I doing while he is questing? Well...a bit of questing, a bit of other stuff..I was keeping up ok until I realised I could get some really rare (though not amazingly powerful) bits and bobs by gaining a decent reputation with the Timbermaw Furbolgs. So now I am spending some time not questing, but killing mobs that raise rep with that faction.

The best way to gain exp in my opinion is to play with a buddy, and be focussed. Two people makes the game very, very smooth. Solo is fine (for me), and its what I do most, but you seriously rattle through quests if there are two of you...so you don't gain as much exp from mob kills, but overall you'll kill more, and get quest rewards quicker (which means lots of exp)...a lot of people say "playing solo is most efficient" but...it may be true, but in terms of lack of frustration, playing with a buddy is very cool. I would say though, you have to be playing with someone +/- two levels, and who is also doing the same set of quests!

Yeah instances are great fun, and give excellent equipment.

Personally I don't spend any time at all in Orgrimmar chatting, in the AH or anything, so I guess I'm not as social player as most. How comes I'm high level? Because I've played for 14 or so days as this char...

So..to recap...to gain exp, quest lots! No chinwagging allowed!

If thats what you want to do, cool, but if you enjoy AH and all the rest of it, very cool also. Its a biiiiiig game, loads to do, different ways to do it.

Mobs on the verge of not giving exp give about 1/3 that of mobs you can just kill...for example I get 12x say from level 44 or 43 mobs, and 36x from level 55 or 56. But I can certainly kill 3 of the 43s in the time I can kill one 55...probably 4 or 5. And then no down time at all.....so yeah low level mobs for gaining levels.
    Well Hello!

I find mage to be good for solo killing. You have some downtime, but this is offset by the fact that most fights take 10-15 seconds.

I'd love to know how? I nearly always struggle on my own, especially when there's multiple enemies around.

I think I need to pull my finger out sometimes and do some grinding, but I can never keep it up as I get bored doing the same thing over, and over, and over. Perhaps I should get use to the fact I'm not gonna get anywhere fast...

More like enjoy not getting anywhere fast. I don't really want to become lvl 60 (not yet anyway), i'm enjoying doing all the quests everywhere, making sure i don't miss any. Enjoy your fishing, take pride in your characters equipment, go exploring.

Lvl 60 will be important when battlegrounds come along, but thats still "soon". If you can't quest within the guild there are still plenty of people looking for help to just do standard quests.

    But go have fun

Serious stuff only needs to happen when you doing instances and elite areas
