Minecraft was quite good, enjoyed it when I last played it on VR. I was always hoping we would get that tech demo for the Microsoft Hololens but that never came to anything

    Re: VR game suggestions?

Looks like the Windows 10 Minecraft has a playable demo mode, I wonder if that can do VR?

This made me try and log into my Mojang account. I failed because it didn't like the answers to my security questions, despite me writing down the answers in a text file so I even tried cut and pasting the answers from there to make sure I spelt them right.
I do have access to the email address, but tbh I'm not sure I can be bothered to recover the login if they are just going to forget my responses.

    Re: VR game suggestions?

OK I've played a little Gorn, it's nice but I need to tweak the controls, I keep hitting the button to bring up the oculas control panel, which leaves me locked in the middle of a fight, not good.
That and I really need more space to swing around wildly.

    Next I gave Vox Machinae a go . . .
I've only done the training and a couple of bot matches but it's flipping amazing.
If any of you are looking for a mechwarrior style, stompy robot cockpit sim type game then seriously give this a look.

It puts you in the cockpit, with vr controls, granted it a bit more limited compared to mechwarrior, you've only got 8 mechs to choice from, with 2 to 4 weapon slots of ether light or heavy weapon selections, each slot can be assigned to one of 4 groups, each group mapped to ether a trigger or button on the left or right stick.

To control your mech you have to grab control sticks in the cockpit, the right stick is turn left/right, left has 2 different sticks, a throttle for walk forward/back if you want to jumpjet you have to let go of the throttle and grab the jumpjet stick next to it, pull it up to jump then push in direction to jet in that direction.
want to eject? grab the ejection handle between your legs with both hands and pull.
Targeting is centred on your view point, so keep your head pointing at your target, there's a sniper zoom, press the analogue stick and a monitor panel swings down in front of you and you now control it with the analogue stick, ok for fine tweaks not for finding or tracking moving targets.
radar is on a similar swing out monitor on the left, you can adjust the position by grabbing it and moving it but only to left or right, in the most right position so it's closest your front then it does block your sight of your left hand, so you're not 100% which of the two controls you've gripped.

Cool other stuff, as you pound enemy mechs the armour gets blown off in chunks exposing internals, so you can take enemies down faster by concentrating fire on a point, although weapons are not really that accurate.
Your cockpit glass gets smashed with internal torso damage and be careful when jumping, land too fast (ether from too high or too fast in a direction) and you can damage your legs, I managed to lose a leg just trying to rush back you cannot walk with one leg, but you can still jumpjet.

I wish it had a single player campaign but it's online multi player only I'll have to give the online a go and report back.

Sort of. I have a Quest game called FitXR which I believe is a port of BoxVR. FitXR is pretty good exercise, and it's main difference is supposed to be a dance exercise class that I don't use. Better exercise than Beat Saber which is handy for lockdown, but it isn't a fun game like Beat Saber that I *want* to go back to.

Pob, not sure how you are set for VR gaming money wise but if you fancy trying a lot of games you can get viveport which I believe you can use with the rift/quest, might be worth a look if you want to try new things without spending a lot initially - https://www.viveport.com/infinity

You get 14 days free so even if you don't go for the sub at least you get some games to try out

Can't you just requested a refund on quest if the game is rubbish and you have played for less than 4 hours?...If that's the case i would try one new game a month I wasn't too sure on without the fear of it being a ripoff

    Re: VR game suggestions?

I can vouch for Star Wars Squadrons, that was really good in VR (apart from I played it on PS VR and the resolution ain't great). It's a shame Resident evil 7 isn't VR on PC because that was fantastic. Absolutely terrifying (even though I had played it before without VR), but great.

I haven't played many. But I saw someone playing Walking Dead Saints & Sinners VR. It looked amazing honestly!
