No, there are several ways to become PVP enabled. Yes, you can attack certain npc's like city guards and vendors etc, basically any PVP enabled npc. Then you can attack PVP enabled players, but you can't attack non-pvp enabled players except in duels. Lastly you can become PVP enabled by typing "/pvp".

Virtually all players have a massive advantage on PVE over PVP enabled players as they don't know if and/or when you will strike. As a rogue you don't even have to become stealthed, just walk up behind them and they won't be able to stop you, unless you're PVP enabled, no-one would let a rogue stand behind them!

You can type /pvp and flag yourself at any time on a PvE server, you don't have to use an NPC.

And Alliance forever! I'll have to dig out the picture of me sitting on ~40 orc bodies in Ogrimmar.

Heh, Alliance are lame. You attack XR nearly every night, sometimes several times a day. XR has to be the most easiest of towns to attack! We laugh at Alliance now for showing their lameness/cowardice!

Thing is, when you do attack, we drive you out real quick. One night we decided to retaliate and took over Astranaar for about an hour at the very least, most alliance turning either stood around watching or died very quickly (there was only about 20 of us) and it took about 50 of you to drive us out! I'll dig out some screenies tonight of how many of us there was and how many of you it took to drive us out!

As I said, nearly every day. They know that XR is an easy target.

Astranaar is the alliance version of XR though.

Anyway, as I said - I raided Ogrimmar, not XR - Ogrimmar is not an "easy" target, though it was comedy gold to rush into the AH and kill all the auctioneers.
Never been on an XR raid, not worth it.

That's why we went there, to retaliate for all the raids against XR. Our point was well made when we held it for ages and it took about twice as many alliance to drive us out!

I'm not being picky but it's happened every night I've played for the last week. I don't think either side can claim the moral high ground over choice of raid targets.

Having seen it from both sides, it's a real pain in the arse wherever it happens! I couldn't turn in a quest in XR one night 'cause some high level Alliance bugger kept killing the NPC I needed. Very frustrating.

Well maybe things have changed recently then, but since Alliance on our server have 2 to 1 advantage you would think they could arrange a decent raid. And when I had alliance chars on our server I only witnessed 1 raid on goldshire area in a few weeks, we see 1 raid on XR every night, at least.

True about moral high ground though. Only the other night me Stoo and Leon where in alliance territory and Leon, the big bully he is, at level 53? was PVP enabled and 2 numpty low level alliance chars attacked him. I think Leon killed them in single hits! OK, that was there fault, but he went after them a 2nd time just for a laugh!

Yup, and along with when you're questing other places because XR is a windrider hub..
All you're trying to do is move on to the next quest, but you can't because some %^£^%$% has just gang-banged the windrider master.. *shakey fist*

Heh, or when you're standing right next to the wind rider, probably not thinking straight, and right click on him only to miss and right click on a PVP enabled alliance char!

    I think I lasted about 2 seconds...

That'll be the last time I try and catch a flight from a flight master who's already mid-battle!

    Now that's funny!

I didn't realise that even healing a participant would put you in PvP and I was playing as a Tauren Druid, saw a horde character in trouble and so put a quick healing spell on him only to find myself PvP enabled and being chased all over the barrens until it wore off!!

Oh yes. Don't heal any chars OR npc's that are fighting unless you wanna be enabled yourself. I think the same goes for buffing. Healing pvp enabled npc's that aren't in battle doesn't make you pvp enabled AFAIK, not that they'll need it!

    Buffing pvp enables you too.

Personally I've only been on one raid vs horde and that was Ogrimmar, the XR/astranaar raiding is pretty senseless IMO.
