By "fire mage" people usually mean fire/arcane, similarly frost mage means frost/arcane. Almost every mage specs at least some arcane (typically 18 in the minimum).

The insta fire nuke is fire blast (5-600 damage, 8s timer), flamestrike is an AE. BTW, if you're on less than 1k hp, don't let a frost mage rush you - frost nova+coc will often crit for 1100+ damage, which kinda stings.

I actually find rogues easier than many other classes. You just blink away, sheep them, heal up and then they don't really get close.
Shamans and priests are probably the hardest classes as mage, priests just have too much damage mitigation and healing, and more mana than mages.

Low mana isn't always death - sheep+evocation puts the mage straight back in the fight.

General rule is 30/21 or 31/20 for the 51 Talent points. If you are a fire mage its 30 points in fire and likely 21 in arcane for POM.

Personally any mage who doesn't have POM in his/her arsenal must be crazy. One of the best use of talent points in the game.

I don't have POM.
It's more use in fire where you can POM a pyroblast, ice has less use for it (I'm 33/18).

So basically get enough in Arcane for PoM then the rest in Fire? Get all the basic ones in Fire, like level by level, or aim for a particular skill/spell?

At this moment the honour system is beeing good to me almost 200 kills and only 18 deaths ( damn rogues ) in a couple of hours in pvp action , appart those anoying raids on XR the horde is doing well ( remember 70% alliance ann 30% horde) because defending is always better then attacking , is a lot easier .

And the most important thing about this system , is that pvp battles are a lot of fun , even wen a rogue sticks is big knife in your back

Got my first taste of blood on the PvP server last night too. Me, a lvl 19 NE Rogue against a lvl 20 Orc Hunter. He hit me once I think! He had backup from a lvl 19 Mage but didn't assist at all, when I turned around, the Mage was dead.

Also one 5/5 Alliance duels last night including a lvl 19 NE Druid (3 times), a lvl 20 NE Warrior and lvl 19 Human Rogue. I like my NE Rogue, she rocks!

Anyway, I will keep her going every now and then. The "rested" bonus is really helping level her up, but I will be spending more time getting Kerilus, the fire throwing killing machine, up so I can continue in Tailoring (at 225 already ) and get better in PvP, coz mages rock at it tbh.
