Guild Wars! - MMO with no fees?

Anyway what I have seen of it in the 2 beta weekends was very good. Looking forward to it being released, Ive got the limited edition pre-ordered.

The whole game is like one giant 'instance' you go into a town where there are loads of people, get your group together and as soon as your leave the town your group is all alone doing the quests you need to do... wont be stumbling over other random people who have killed the thing your after

If that is true then I will definately not be trying it... Instances are great fun, but it's much better to have the whole world open to all IMO, friends and enemy!

Would suck if the only place you can congregate is one town...

I think there are other 'arena' areas but i only played for one of the 2day beta weekends so never explored that much. The game seemed to play alot more like a RPG lanned with a couple mates than a MMORPG.

You cant really compare it with other MMORPGS as its not really like them, they way i works is very different from WoW. ITs much better suited to people who dont have the time or inclination to play something like WoW or EQ2. Its more like Diablo2 than those games really.

Might have to take a look at this one, I really disagree with the online rpg's after buying the game then also having to pay a monthly sub aswell, personally think its a bit of a rip off in all honesty.

If this one is just pay for the game and no monthly subs it will be well worth playing for people that enjoy rpg's but have the same thoughts about the subs.

Two thigs put me off MMO's. the fees. And tha fact that you ether play it loads or suck. Which is kind of a downer when you like to go outside and stuff. XP.

I here WoW isnt surposed to be so bad for this, if i had the money.. who knows. But a free one that you can give up when you get bord and not feel like youve been waisting 7 or 8 quid a month on would be alot more apealing.

GW is more of an RPG for CS players than a true MMORPG. If that's what you're after in a game then give it a try.

Yeah, of course. The monthly fee pays for the development and support you get from Blizzard, plus the huge amount of servers they have! I agree, they could get away with charging less, but I'm happy to pay to play.
