The Models have been improved, max res is now 1600x1200. Texture sizes are up to 512k. For how old the game is it looks really great. Well worth playing as a stop gap.

Understanding Avionics is a pain. I used to like EF2000 as it was dumed down a bit, but not too much. Shame DID went up the swanny. Eurofighter Typhoon was a big dissapointment.. Far too arcadey.

However.. Inflight Refuelling and Carrier landings are ace

What we could do with is an IL2 Engine game set it the Pacific Theatre. That would be good.

I'd be very tempted - I tried to give SP3 a go a number of times but never really had the time or inclination to learn the avionics - (try using the mouse to operate the buttons on a MFD at max 1024 x 768 res on a 15" TFT - makes your eyes water )

However its very tempting to see what has been developed by the FreeFalcon boys...very tempting...

    BTW I'm really loving this A10 !

Listen up noobs - dead simple

    7 for A-G (air - ground mode)

C- toggles your 30mm gatling gun
D- cycles through remaining air to ground weapons.

    Not hard eh ?

Well I just managed to get it to run for more than 2 mins. Had a fly about in the Mig29.

All's going well till I come into land. Bit of wind blows me off course so I try to compensate with my rudder.

Hang on, I've got no rudder.

Still got it down first time intact though. But yeah, LOMAC doesn't respond to my rudder inputs at all, despite them being mapped correctly. Another bug.

Sound is still very, very weird. Sometimes I get engine noise, sometimes I don't.

I also miss a visual cue for my throttle RPM in %. It's nice to know you're at full military power without having to check an external view to see if the burners are lit or not.

Still, I'm not giving up on it yet. Gonna go fly my Mig a bit more now it's running.

Lowe - if you assign your joystick to the rudder, you need to assign a dead zone - you will see the option to create the deadzone in the input options. Rudder doesn't seem to work very well though, doesn't smoothly yaw your nose from side to side , all rather jerky - hope this is sorted.

You'll soon know from the noise if your burners are lit, but I'm afraid visually you need to watch the twin gauges, I think it was the same in Falcon 4 IIRC.

    Definately growing on me

Falcon had an RPM meter, plus you could hear the engine anyway.

I don't even get cannon sounds when you fire the gun. I'm sure an A10 pilot would hear that!!

Here's a bit of amusing fun. I tried pulling a Cobra manuever in the Mig29 and to my amusement (and the horror of the Mirage sat on my arse) it worked. Pulled a 180 flip, boresighted the trailing Mirage and popped an Archer right into his chops.

Turn your cockpit sound up - makes a big difference, however I hope that the cannon effects are improved for the release, as it isn't enough at the moment.

The RPM meter in the Mig is below the MFD to the left ( From memory) I'm pretty sure they are in both aircraft in roughly the same place. In the A10 there are 2 of them, the A10 is a bit clearer to read IMO

I'm sure this will be a pretty ace game once it's finally out. Apparently they are doing "Everything in their power" to get it out before Xmas.

By RPM meter I mean a little % reading on the HUD. Was ideal since you didn't have to take your eyes off the centre of the screen.

I think you're missing the point about engine sounds mate - I don't have anything when I'm inside the cockpit, despite the sound being up full etc. Same for the A10 cannon, I get nothing inside the cockpit, but can hear it roar if it's on an exernal view. Buggy code or incompatibilty with my SbLive.

Try a Cobra though peeps. Fly at about 550knts/kph in the Mig29 straight and level at about 3000m. Press K, then pull back hard on the stick. pres F3 to go to external fly by view and smile as you pull a silly, silly AoA and lose all that airspeed. Light the burners just before you flip over and then you can virtually hang in the air for a second or so. If you're feeling really silly you can then reduce power to idle, keep the nose pointing up and you'll fall backwards in a perfect tail slide. Kick the rudder over to stall turn, light the burners and pull out with a huge grin on your face. Looks ace with wingtip smoke on! (T)

I can't pull a loop in an A10. Normally results in an interesting spin. Try it.

I love the Russian Cockpit voice.

I don't have a problem looping my A10. Just need a bit more than 200 knts of airspeed..

Used to live 10 miles from the UK A10 gunnery range and you heard it there easy

Oh you lucky piz. That just aint fair.

I will never, ever forget being used as target practice by an A10 when I was a kid. I was out for a drive with my dad when I was about 7. We used to visit airfields and kind of hang around for a bit to see what was going on and see if we could catch a glimpse of something cool.

Anyways we were drove off down some back lanes and were a couple of miles from the airfield when I heard the engines of something screaming in at a right old rate. I wound down the window, stuck my head out and looked behind and there was the unmissable profile of an A-10 on an attack run. He buzzed us by about 100ft, then slowed right down, virtually put the wingtip on the floor then turned a complete 180 degree turn within the space of a field - almost around a tree! It then came back straight at us and then buggered off to do what he was supposed to be doing I guess.

That left an impression on me though. I would not want to be in an enemy IFV or tank if one of these monsters is buzzing around a battlefield I can tell you that!!
