Ah right cool. Like those rune things you find...
Ah right cool. Like those rune things you find...
Basically, yes. But you can put two upgrades on any weapon (except wands, I think)... One of them puts a word before the weapon: "Sundering Long Bow", "Shocking Long Bow", and t'other puts an 'of' after it: "Long Bow of Enchanting".
In the case of bows, strings put a word before and bow grips put the of.
Ah cool, my current bow I got from Crucil is a Longbow of Enchanting, so I could add a different string.
Where did you get the upgrade bits from in the first place.
You take them from other bows. So I might find a Longbow, identify it, and it becomes a Longbow of Enchanting.
If I use an Expert Salvage Kit on it, there's a chance I'll get the Bowgrip of Enchanting from it instead of some planks.
i still have no idea about the loot and stuff i pick up - whats worth keeping and whats not, what to take to people and why??
anyone got any sites with usful info on this?
cheers

I don't really know what to keep / sell either, to be honest. Anything I find that doesn't have any special stats on it I sell to a vendor.
If there's an unidentified item, I identify it, then sell it to the vendor if there aren't any upgrades/runes in it. If there are, I use my expert salvage kit to take them out, then sell them on to other people.
A minor rune will fetch about 500 gold in the right place, so it's pretty nice.
Oh, and I use my salvage kit on all salvage items I find, so that I can craft stuff.
where do u get salvage kits from?

Are you Pre or Post Searing?
If Pre-Searing, I wouldn't worry about it too much as you won't really find any items worth salvaging.
If, however, you're Post-Searing, you can buy an Identification Kit from any Merchant for about 100 Gold. I think a Salvage Kit might be 200 (though I could be wrong), and an Expert Salvage Kit is 400.
I normally salvage everything, got tonnes of crafting materials now... Although I never seem to have the ones I need. Heh.
I bought an expert salvage kit too, found a couple of Ranger runes which made my armour give me an extra Marksmanship attribute point.
Yeah.
And when you go to change your armour, you can Expert Salvage your old stuff to try and get the Rune back, so you can put it on the new stuff.
ah ok - cheers for the help guys - im only lvl 6 and dont play much yet so still confused (its annoying, all over mmorpgs ive picked up stupidly fast)

Nice. I should get that wood back that they needed to make my armour... -_-
You won't get the wood back if there's a rune on it, you'll get the rune instead. Or the wood and no rune, not both. ^_^;;
If you get the wood, it won't be the same amount that you had to give them to craft it; it takes me about 75 cloths to make a piece of armour, yet salvaging it gives me 9 at most.
I've got loads of cloths at the moment, and a fair few tanned squares. Dunno what I'll need for my next armour.
Probably what you need at the moment, but with a difference. For example, my armour went:
Cloth.
Cloth + Scales.
Cloth + Shells.
Etc.
