The warlock is equivalent of.....well, the warlock :inquisiti :)
Shaman is much more a mage tank compared to paladin who is much more a melee tank

Indeed, in pvp toe-to-toe with a Paladin should be avoided by Shaman for as long as possible Ive found.
A simple few things to learn with paladin and they are easy as the rest imo...
You should expect a long fight tho, both parties can heal... Your heals outweigh the paladins. Your mana pool should far outweigh the paladin too. So my advice would be to kite round the paladin, try and keep him at arms length and cheekily get some melee and move away to keep out of his responses...
When it looks like he's healing earth shock him. When he's shielded and healing max out your own healing with a full healing wave...

A good paladin is very hard to beat - they can put up a resistance aura to your attacks, they hit fairly hard, they stun, they can put a debuff on you that means they heal or regain mana when they hit you, they also get a shield every 5 mins to heal up in and a full instant heal once per hour. And you can't root or snare them easily because they can just cleanse it.
I wouldn't bet on the mana pool too heavily, paladins aren't usually much below shamans from what I've seen.
But Butcher, you're forgetting one thing, Horde hate Paladins... and most PvP I've seen involves people pulverising them, they go invincible and heal, then they are pulverised again till they are deaded! ;)
Ah, but solo....
I was on yesterday and saw a lvl 43 Paladin take on a lvl40 elite Demon and asked over guild speak what were his odds. The responses were "10:1, no chance, he'll get pulverised". He not only beat the demon but basically finished with almost all his health intact. It was very impressive. Perhaps that's why they're hated so much and draw so much aggro in PvP.
Maybe, but any good player could probably do that, if they know how to play their classes. I used to really struggle as a Mage and complain quite a lot about how weak they are, but I'm now getting really used to it and killing most things around my level and just above without getting hit, unless they resist my Frost Nova, then I have to change my tactics and take a little damage.Quote:

Now, the difference is, if I have to take on 2, elite or not, at the same time... then I struggle, especially if I can't, or fail, to polymorph one of them. Taking on lvl 34-35 Centaurs in Desolace with their Voidwalkers was easy. Polymorph the Centaur, kill the VW, kill the Centaur. Rarely take a hit now, unless I'm passing through a field of enemies.
Playing as a Warlock, Pallys are easy kills (except those that really know their tactics). Don't use any affliction spells on them, rely on fear or seduction and your maxed out shadowbolt (the affliction spells will stop the fear, so shoot them as they run around), then towards the end he'll shield up to heal, this is the time to hit them with this instant damage done by using Shadowburn. Earlier this morning, I took on a Pally 7 lvls above me :)
As for dealing with Elites, I've had mixed experiences with them. I can get done by one a few lvl below mine, yet earlier I killed a lvl38 Elite (me being lvl37) twice.......barely mine, must have had less than 10hps left at the end of each kill....
I took down the panther elite in STV a lvl below him and survived without a invulnerability shield.. I've got a lvl 15 paladin on another server as a test and its got to lvl 15 without dying. Imo one of the easiest classes to play.
Burst dps is the key, half health to nothing on paladins works a treat :)
If i crit with frost shock atm, thats 1K+ dmg, even a good paladin might have a shock when that hits ;)

I guess I'm just really crap then. I needed help with the Panther elite and when I took on Arikhara at lvl29 (maybe 30) I got my arse kicked. As a warrior I find it very difficult. I can sustain quite a bit of damage but it just means I take longer to die! My only chance is if I get a string of crits. More often than not though, I get a string of misses and I'm shafted - can't regenerate health, no long range attacks, no way of trapping the enemy while I run. As in the tanking thread, warriors are great but they really need back up.
Now, I know TiG will dispute that and explain how easy it is to play as a warrior when soloing but hey, as I said, I guess I'm just really crap :)
I had an encounter with a same level Paladin twice in G arena the other day and won. A couple of things stuck in my mind along with the tactics put forth from tig which you learn inorder to survive. Purge at the start to remove the buffs paladins love and a grounding totem was most useful when running and healing or preventing escape. Other than that taking notice of the paladins healing bubble (usually goes up at some point in a fight) and using it to your advantage is a must. I also bagged 2 clear cast during the fights which helped (0% mana consumption):) I'm going to start taking bandages with me as they can save mana as a healwave alt. I will add though that we are closely matched and it does come down to the player to respond at critical times to prevent a grueling bash-heal fight.
My first char was a human warrior on another server, and I totally understand the number of misses that warriors get, its just ridiculous.....in some fights you're lucky if you get 1 in 2 of your hits to land. I found playing a warrior very difficult, killing creatures of the same lvl always seemed to be near death experiences. Quests that were for my lvl couldn't be done until at least I was 2 lvls above it.Quote:
