I was on my PvP mage yesterday and only just reached level 11 when I had to go to the sepultcher for a quest.

When I got outside the path to it I saw a level 14 Gnome running near me. I turned and noticed him - highlighted him and saw that the level was yellow so I thought... "stuff it... hit him" and I started to rain fireballs at him. 1 of them hit for like 80 damage and then the rest took him down to about 20 HP. He ran over and was hacking at me left right and centre.

Out came the staff and with 2 hits and 3hp left on my character I took him down

Woooo my first ever PvP kill

Ouch, you went melee with a mage?

Frost Nova them and run/blink away, turn and fire off another fireball.

Congrats though! The adrenalin makes it worth it!

Staff = melee attack. Still, am not sure if you can blink at that level, think it's a lvl 20 spell.

    Correct its 20 iirc

I'm having more fun atm actually killing everything in sight on my way to the quests. Last night for example I was freezing a few raptors near the cross-roads and then running in to boost my staves skills which are lowly at the moment.

So.... if anyone sees a nutter of a mage by the name of corpsemaker firing his balls all over... you know who it is

Both the characters I have on Arathor are still there ( Horde and Alliance )

I've not really been able to "WoW" it up as much at the moment with all the work and time going into CS, CS and CS source

Also, a few things have been happening outside the PC world where I've not had enough time to basically breathe but now all thats finished.

Still can't understand why you guys bother with XR? It's hammered every day making questing/travelling very difficult for level 12-25's which is not fair IMO as it's a PvE server and people shouldn't have to go out of their way coz of groups of Alliance wimps chose to raid a small popular town coz they know they can wipe it out easily.

Shame Alliance can't hear what we say when the Alliance raid, shame they can't hear the insults and the laughter as we sit there watching them waste their time, but also wasting ours. At least you made up for it by "trying" (and failing) to raid Orgrimmar....

Good to know. Mages are dangerous in PvP. Last night I was fighting in XR for once, instead of TM (got fed up with people moaning), and about 5 or 6 times I successfully used my Blizzard (which now does 500dmg over 8s) on big groups of Alliance causing many deaths and me to rack up over 70 HK's in a short space of time. Hopefully my CP will be listed today, I'm hoping for about 700-1000 CP's for that lot, as most of the time my fireballs were landing for 400-500 each, fireblasts around 300-400, and in one occasion I took out 3 guys at once by AoE spamming, though they must have been hurt by the guards already!
They hit the crossroads as you had nearly 40 lvl 60's sitting there firing long range at our guys and it unfolded, there were horde pve standing watching and the public chat went mad, ALLIANCE INCOMMING, LOADS OF EM

They hit that as there are a few players in that city that challenged the guild to a test to take them out so we did. Like I said I stood there and watched, but your main city to kill the king, now that was a challenge, I saw our lvl 60 chars get taken down in 2 - 3 hits, rather impressive.

I also have some bad news to, the guild I am in, and in fact the alliance mage sector was dead, not any more we've had a mass influx of mages start, 6 along joined the guild with atleast another 30 of them starting out that I saw in the mage sector of stormwind. With the alliance we made with another guild there are nearly 300 players that are lvl 60 with another 200 that are on the way up then us late starters trying to get levelled.

So far I've seen Ironforge get raided by the horde but they didn't get to far, the place was packed, so much infact the frame rates were stupidly low with 200+ alliance battling it out 0.o

Otherbad news is they suceeded in taking your main city on Sunday in the early hours of the morning, they made a video out of it, I will try and get the link for you as I am yet to recieve it myself.

With regard to the mass damage your blizzard and firestrike/blast magic does, that amplify magic spell is a god send to us mages normally 9/10 hit are crits

Amplify Magic is a spell (self cast only IIRC) that increases the damage taken from magic spells, but also from healing. So casting that on yourself whilst fighting melee only mobs is good as when someone heals you it will give you a little boost. Dampen Magic decreases the damage taken from magic spells, but again, also from healing. Casting that on yourself whilst fighting magic only mobs is good.

I'm not aware of either of these spells either increasing or decreasing the possibility of a critical hit...

When coupled with arcane concentration (allows clearspell) your hit levels are massivly improved, i have seen many mages walk about with either a frost or fire setup and one with an arcane setup, arcane seems to be the better of the three from experience so I am trying to get a mix 1/3 arcane 2/3 fire or ice I haven't decided on the last part.

    Amplify magic doesn't affect crits.

Maybe you mean arcane power (also doesn't affect crits, but boost damage)?

if i dont run amplify magic then for some reason I won't do much damage with clearspell and arcane concentration, if amplify magic is turned on with clearspell the damage is rediculous for a level 22 mage. If it doesnt help then I would love to find out whats causing it so i can do it all the time would be a great help, so far the lvl 27's are getting the better of me, lvl 26's i can put up a fight and generally walk away from it

Edit:: Butcher looking at your profile and noticing you are mainly an arcane talent Mage, i've had 2 other mage players tell me that its better to setup 1/3 arcane and rest in fire or frost until i hit lvl 60 then relearn to full arcane, would you agree with that or should I stick to the arcane as all my points since lvl 10 are in arcane.

That's probably your perception. Amplify magic doesn't affect the damage you do at all.

Amplify Magic and Clearspell do not affect damage done by your magic. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure Arcane Concentration enables you to cast Arcane Missiles (or all Arcane spells) without delay whilst being hit, so again, this won't affect damage done, but might raise your dps a little.
