I'm not an arcane mage, I'm a frost mage - 33 frost, 18 arcane.

Allen - arcane conc. allows clearcasts which make your next damage spell free. You can make arcane missiles uninterruptible with the improved arcane missiles talent.

There is no amplify magic talent so I'm not sure which talent you're talking about there grey m@a. I'd suggest improved arcane explosion though given your other talents.

yeah i have 2 in that already, need that to five then I can move onto the fire, or stay with arcane, i am uncertain as yet, have till lvl 25 to decide.

Well..... last night was fun on darksorrow

I was mooching about with my level 14 mage doing a few quests and a message came on the bottom about the crossroads being under attack.

Wary, that I only had 212 HP and that 1 hit from a higher levelled char would make me run 1/2 the map in ghost form I slowly tracked back to cross-roads.

When I got to XR - I was running north when a character whispered " careful mate - level 20-30 enemies spotted ". My reply was " f**k 'em - they're gonna eat my fireballs "

After chatting for roughly 30 secs he said ... hey I like your attitude and I got a group invite. There I was surrounded by level 38-49 characters who all took me out for my first major battle.

In just 30 minutes I had got 20 honourable kills in 1 night

At 1 point - a level 22 character (human) ran past and he got a nice ice nova freezing to the floor and then pummeled by about 8 characters at once

Hurray for PvP - 'tis fun I tell thee.......

Thats the best trick, you get close enough to blink right in the centre of them, hit nova frost, hopefully they will all freeze to the spot if not the majority of them, blink out, rest go in while the mages stand just outside range and AoE the main battle ground

I have to laugh at those on the server saying "mages are weak - you will get owned in there" granted in close combat, generally yes, long rang fireballs, nova frost blink, arcane missiles, scorch, blink its a laugh alright Hey guys I should take a stroll up to your city and say hello, in PVE ofcourse I ain't daft enough to walk in on my own and then say hello to 200+ horde in PVP

Blink has a 15s timer...

On of the funnier ones I've had was some horde chasing me, I hit ice block (10s immunity to all but you can't move or do anything). 4 relatively low levels (about 15 below me) gathered round me thinking I'd be an easy kill. I came out of ice block and AEed them all dead in about 5 seconds.

Heh, if there's enough of them, you'll be dead before you finish casting Flamestrike or your Blizzard timer reaches the end.

If you want to do PvP as a mage you'll will have to stay out of harms way, that is why you have spells like Frost Nova and Blink, they are to escape from melee, not hold people around you whilst you try and damage them.

Also, be wary of hunters, and of course other mages. They will have the range and the power to seriously harm you. Get into melee range of Warriors/Rogues/Paladins/Shamans etc and you're more than likely to die, unless you can FN and B away.

Potions are a must to, line yourself up with the rejuveration, defense, strength frost shield, fire ward, mana shield, amplify magic, make sure your curse spell is at hand and then prey for the best and go in rambo style for a laugh so everyone can laugh at you

I had alliance members in stitches with the A-Team music playing on TS and me screaming I pity tha foo and then taking my level 20 mage at the time into a pack of 60 elites then trying to hit things and failing big time, think i heard laughter for close to 15 minutes

I rarely use potions, just carry a few heal and mana pots mainly (currently a combination of major and combat versions). For instant mana regen I mainly use my mana ruby anyway as it's free.

I have so many slots on bags I've been given by guild members and basically to get my alchemy levels up I have my bank full of potions ready to dish out to people or sell. Must admit though in the lower levels the potions are a dream can see them being pretty useless once in the higher levels.

I also use Evocation for mana regen, it's fantastic. 8 seconds and nearly all my mana back from damn near 0! 10 min cooldown though.

Yea the cool down is killer, but if we had that all the time, would anyone every be able to take us down

I have a bag full of just trinkets and reagents. I don't really need to carry loads of potions as well.

Bandages are very useful BTW - you should definitely get first aid.
