Have you tried putting in the FB disc, cancelling at the splash screen, then "Exploring" the CD rather than running it.
Find the setup.exe (or whatever it may be called) and then seeing if it asks you to install ? (Changing install directories obviously)
If that doesn't work I'm not sure without creating a separate boot partition...

Tumble, change the FB installation folder name or move it into a different folder somewhere (Other than Ubi Soft) and run the FB disk. If it only allows you to uninstall, do it - it deletes a few pieces of the registry I guess as my installation has been untouched.

I'm installing FB as of now, will have to see if my 4.01 version works though - might be fudged if the bits of registry say its not there when I come to putting new patches on in the future though...

EDIT - Yep it works fine, now I've gotta download 1.22 patch as I deleted it ages ago thinking I'd never need that again

tell you what you COULD do

Rename your folder with all of IL2 in it at the mo.

Then whack the FB disk in, and then install to a TOTALLY different place....

then once its in, rename your original game file back to what it was!
