    KIDDING

Nah the real reason is that as the newest officer i get to do it - but i forgot to last night

will be rectified as soon as i come on
Lol, I don't tease you, I inform you about my cake experiences. Like the other day we had so much, we couldn't eat it all, so we gave some to next doors dog and threw the rest away

I wasn't complaining btw, I'm not that fussed, I rarely look at the guilld status screen. I only did last night because when I asked what the conversation was about (this thread was being discussed) I was told to look at it. I don't see it as that important. I group and quest with a number of people and what matters more that they are happy to continue doing so. If they stop, then I'll know I've got a problem or I'm doing something wrong. I don't need a rank to tell me that.

I'm at a bit of a neutral stance here, when madocks first metioned it to me I didn't really think anything of it, someone being given a rank ahead of me really doesn't mean anything to me and is not going to affect the way I play or interact with other giuld members.

But as we have seen there are a few members that don't like the idea and from what I have read, Beach summed up (what i think is) most of the peoples problems quite well, "Do we assume then that those who don't get nominated or receive an honoured rank are selfish, unhelpful individuals? Are they dishonourable? Am I unhelpful?".

So if I was going to make a vote it would be against, because a new rank isn't worth bothering with if it's gonna cause all these problems.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

My view is that more Ranks should be bought into the Guild. Not just to show who's done something good for other guild members but to inject some fun into the guild.

TBH this needs sorting out before the guild can progress.

    just a couple of Q's!

Firstly I'd just like to say I'm all in favour of the honour system, I am always receiving help from others with no way of paying them back and now I can give them a mention and hopefully give them a nice surprise on the Guild Screen.

However thats not what I am posting about. Not to start arguments but I was wondering why people feel they have to PM help in private. If you have for taking the helmet example found one for a lvl 42 warrior and want to ask him if he wants it, why not ask in guild instead of going to the hassle of posting it with a please return on. Or people stating they would not get recognised as they help generally in the background or in private... why? Doing it in front of the guild would not change anything except maybe speed the process or in some situations help it, say for example:

I need materials to build a new breastplate for demonbane or reginald (this is an example i don't really!!). Demonbane and or Reginald know of this so they pass on as much as possible for it, but its not really getting anywhere fast as there are only three 50ish's looking for it.
Second option - Demonbane and or Reginald ask in guild if anyone can make them a good breastplate, now firstly someone might come up with a better one than me which is even better! or someone might have the parts for it meaning it will get built quicker.

All I am trying to say is I don't understand there ever being a situation where secrecy from the guild would be required, we are all friends of varying levels from best buddies to respected allies, we are all in it for the betterment of each other as well as to have fun! And all the honour rank will do is recognise those that go above and beyond every now and then!

Anyway I am finished for now!

There's no secrecy, it's just sometimes when online you might just chuck someone a PM and say "you wanna group" or you might already be in conversation with them, either through PM or TeamSpeak that not many people seem to use. If you guys were on TeamSpeak I'm sure you'd hear about certain people grouping up, asking who wants what etc, the sort of things that aren't handled in the guild channel.

Also, when in a group, you tend to use /p to chat with other members, you wouldn't ask someone in your group a question on the guild channel as it would look like "hey, look at me, i'm trying to help someone, give me some recognition".

If the "Honoured" rank shows those who go above and beyond to help, then the majority of people will be "Honoured" and the more there is, the less worthwhile it becomes. Also, if there are many people being "Honoured" the others who help a lot will think "why am I not Honoured?" etc.
