GUILD WARS: Hexus Guild Rolecall - Redux

Right, I'm back from weekend of randomness.

The point I was making about members was this: we're all a fairly sound bunch, we know that. Let's say I meet someone in game, who's a decent enough person and wants to join us. They're prepared to join Hexus itself as well....sort of like some of the WoW players did. Can it ever be a case of any friend of yours is a friend of mine? Because we also need to consider that the guild has to be big enough to provide enough people at peak times to play PvP, otherwise it's really not performing one of it's major functions.

At the moment it's 6pm on a Sunday and there are three of us online.

Edit: I should point out that, yes, we have 30 or so members, yes plenty of Hexites have the game, but there's only a small core who are regularly active.

Yeah, I'd say that if they're prepared to create an account on the hexus forums, then that should be proof enough that they're serious about joining the guild. It's not exactly the most stringent test, but it'll at least mean we can contact them etc outside of the game if we want to organise a guild battle.

Tell them that in order for an account to be added to our guild they have to A.) post their character stats in the roster thread, and B.) submit their character details to DirectHex to be put on the website.
If they do both of those things, it means they actually do want to join.

i have _NO_ intention to add a registration system of any kind to the web page - members will be injected manually into the database, and can then edit their own details.

this forces peer review on new member additions.

I am happy with the way things are going with the game in general, we are all getting on really well all the time. At least I can get on for a few hours virtually every night and hope everyone is still happy with me being Guild Leader (Its just a title in my eyes, we are all equal no matter what level we are)

If people want to join point them to HEXUS community, they will most likely enjoy it here so it could well get the member base up at HEXUS. This is definately something I think we need to really stick with, we dont want just anyone or a bunch of kids joining the guild and longterm causing us bother and not forgetting giving HEXUS mods / admins grief if they start kicking off.

People are still buying this game, it was at the top of the charts 2 weeks before the end of May and is still sitting there now, it is very popular with it being an action RPG with no monthly fees at all.

OK I've got my second profession. I'm now Elementalist/Ranger. Still only level 5. Not much time available to play at the moment - looking after daughter who finished school on Friday.
