    Guild Wars: Skills

So, what skills does everybody use with their characters?

I have a Ranger/Mesmer. From the Ranger side, I specialise in Markmanship and Wilderness Survival, with a bit of Expertise thrown in for cheaper spells. Wilderness Survival is useful for Troll Unguent, for healing or counteracting spells that drain your health. It's also good for Ignite Arrows - it does a fair bit of extra damage for the energy, especially against groups.

The only Marksmanship skill I'm using at the moment is Favorable Winds - it lets me do a bit more damage at little cost, just so long as the enemies don't use arrows!

From the Mesmer side, I only use Domination spells, but I find that line quite useful. Backfire and Empathy make enemies take damage when they cast spells and attack respectively, so they help deal a fair bit of damage (or discourage humans from doing things). Spirit Shackles makes the enemy lose energy when they attack, which can disable a caster fairly quickly. Similarly, Energy Burn takes away energy and health. I used to use Chaos Storm, but creatures tend to move out of the way - I suspect it would be virtually useless against human players.

The last slot is used either for a Ressurection Signet, or Signet of Capture.

Any suggestions about that build? What do you all use in your builds?

This is my current R/E build:

    1: Power Shot
    2: Distracting Shot
    3: Throw Dirt
    4: Barrage (E)
    5: Fire Storm
    6: Barbed Trap
    7: Apply Poison
    8: Conjure Flame

It's working well at the moment, as I use Conjure Flame to make my fire bow do an extra 12 damage each hit, which when combined with Barrage means I can hit 6 enemies twice in one hit, very handy. Power Shot does lots of damage, distracting shot interupts the enemies current action, and if it was a skill disables it for 20 seconds. Great for using on monks and healers.

Throw dirt I have only just started using, seems affective, as when I lure enemies in I can blind them before hand. Fire Storm is good for some extra damage too. Barbed trap is good, although I sometimes use flare instead, it basically cripples the enemy and makes them bleed when they activate it. Then apply poison speaks for it's self, makes the enemies poisoned for 11 seconds. On the whole, good set up at the moment. Although I'm still messing around with other combinations.

On my mesmer/necro, I use conjure phantasim a lot, as well as backfire etc. which goes well with some of the necro skills.

Throw dirt is a terrible skill as you have to run right up to the enemy to do it. If you're a ranger, you're meant to stay far away from the enemy

You get swamped often, especially on the Ring of Fire missions I'm on at the moment, can come in handy, it's good for tight situations in PvP too. Alterations to skill set up now.. After I aquired a new elite skill:

    1: Quick Shot (E)
    2: Power Shot
    3: Throw Dirt/Meteor shower
    4: Barbed Trap
    5: Distracting Shot
    6: Favourable Winds
    7: Read The Wind
    8: Conjure Flame

Good combo with the arrow speed charms and preps, with conjure flame, and spamming quick shot with some added powers gives a lot of damage. I managed to take down a monk and warrior really quickly in PvP with this build. The traps are great too.

I've tried an E/R in PvP, and used a nature ritual that made skills recharge twice as fast, which made doing major damage very effective. I can't remember the name though..

So how many attribute classes do you tend to spread yourself over? I'm over 4 at the moment, but I might get rid of one so I can concentrate on three.

I've just found this for Domination: http://gwvault.ign.com/View.php?view....Detail&id=142

For me, it drains 7 energy, so I tend to use it near the beginning of the fight.
