    Depressing being a mage..

After all these patches Mage's aren't even considered very high damage dealers any more.. it seems they've also changed the description slightly on the WoW site - if I would have read the current description I wouldn't have started a mage :|

It seems we're pretty rubbish at PVP these days too (with all the improvements to the other classes)..
I think it's this post that has got me thinking more this way today... sigh. All true though.

After 8+ days of play time gah.. I hope they give some improvements to us mages at somepoint. Although I think I will start a rogue tonight.. stealth looks fun but levelling all the way up to 40 will be an arse.
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?

Depressing being a Mage. You must be joking. I loved levelling my Mage, watching him grow, watching him dish out large amounts of damage in a single hit. As soon as you hit lvl60 you start getting whispers offering you a slot for a high level instance.

The only issue i've had is once you hit lvl 60 you get no more spells/improvement. What the poster in your link suggested was Epic spells, and its a great idea. Give it time and Blizzard should help the Mage out.

I hope so.. but it does feel like they are just improving other classes to be anti-mage lately Shamans seem undefeatable as a mage, I just run away from them.. (I'm always moaning about how unfair the Shaman class seems from my point of view).

    Dis. A. Gree.

Mages are extremely powerful in PvP (not that I play much PvP), invaluable in any instance. And, you reckon the other classes are being buffed?? Read their forums (and talk to them) and they will say that they aren't being buffed at all!

Warriors are complaining (not in a bad way, just saying...) that the new skills are worse than the old ones. As are the Warlocks. And they were the two that got most this patch.

    Who else?

I'll be honest, I have a rogue alt...but I'm still having most fun with my Druid...if you aren't having fun with your main, try another char...but don't expect it to be "better", perhaps the class you have picked is just not to your playstyle!

*Edit* with respect to Shamen, they are the class that nobody currently seems to say are a pushover. IMO Paladins are balanced for what they are, but too many people play them and expect them to be your traditional RPG hero able to do everything, when they are NOT...they are an excellent support class. Shammies seem to have just a bit too much of everything...they are good tanks, good mages, good physical DPS when OOM, good debuffers, good ressers, good support...maybe they are a bit too tough in melee...I spose arguably bumping them down to Leather would fix this, they are sposed to be spiritual leaders after all! Like I say I don't PvP much...I have no doubt a shaman would disagree (maybe? Lummie, care to comment??)...but hey, maybe shamen are "just right" for a large number of people, whereas people rolling pallies should be rolling other things...

This is the thing I spose, too many rogues and hunters, with a lack of other classes...too many pallies Alliance side. Who knows...time will tell...um but the gist of my point is, if you aren't enjoying, try sommat else. I personally had periods of boredom getting to 60, but never that long...

It's mainly that post that triggered it off in my mind.. some of the stuff he mentions I hadn't thought of before.. In the past I have played melee classes in RPGs so this has been a change for me, I wanted massive damage .. I'm going to try a rogue tonight, see if I enjoy that - I think the stealthing will be nice

Just about to do SM again with one of my housemates though will probably be fun so my rant might mean nothing soon 8-)

just a note about being a rogue.....

dont get annoyed when u stealth up to a mob, pickpocket it, and before u hit it, someone goes and attacks it first, because they cant see you stealthed!!!!!

ps - ive got a pala, warrior, druid and a few other classes (got bored) but ive had the most fun with my rogue...

Druid is the true anti-mage. They are virtually unbeatable, and unlikely a shaman you can't even run away.

I think the epic spells are a good idea. Melees have had a lot more damage boosting than casters so far, even with a lot of +dmg gear, melees can still easily bump their damage more because they get the double bonus of strength (and agi for some) and higher listed DPS on weaponry.

I'd go so far as to say only cloth casters should get epic spells, hybrids like the pala and shaman don't really need more magic boosting, as they can boost their DPS by getting better weaponry.

BTW, I still like my mage and it doesn't seem particularly weak as a character, but the class does seem to lack a distinct role. Blizzard doesn't seem sure WTF mages are supposed to do...
