    Falcon 4.0 - Allied Force

Seeing as this forum has slowed down a little, here's some news...

Falcon 4.0 has been re-released as Falcon 4.0 Allied Force, with updated graphics, AI, avionics, a whole new theatre of operations AND the most awesomest dynamic campaign ever, i mean, it's really really really clever. So, the graphics remain poor, but forget your IL2's, LOMAC's, FS9's, Silent Hunter's and whatnot, this is a sim, and the others mentioned here are like toys in comparison.

I just read the review in SimHQ. It sounds intriguing. I like the sound of a clickable cockpit - which is something that I've yearned after in IL2 for a while (not that there'd be much to click in IL2). The dynamic campaigns look excellent.

But, no time for another sim/game in my life at the moment. Graphics do look pretty drab - fuzzy indistinct landscape etc And, when it comes downs to it, jets just don't do it for me! But then again . . .

I don't think these one liners count as constructive posts if you're just here to enter a compo

Its a very nice package, 1 click install as opposed to F4 + SP4 + BMS + Etc Etc - Falcon used to take a day to install and cnfigure , even the the Ctds were VERY annoying.

The Training TEs still are next to useless and this is a sim for hard core fans only, but what it does it does very well,

couple of fps problems near busy airbases but in everything apart from graphics its leagues ahead of Lomac.

I have been playing falcon 4 since it first came out in 1998 and generally am very pleased with the new graphsim allied force version. I have found the new version very stable which is almost a first compared to all the previous different official and unofficial mods.

As previous posters have mentioned this is a game for serious flightsim players - there is an option for easy as opposed to realistic avionics but even then the amount you have to learn to drop a bomb or fire a missile is huge. The pdf manual is 716 pages long and you need to read quite a bit of that to play effectively and learn about the f-16. Put in the effort however to learn the game and it is brilliant - the non-scripted campaigns which carry out the war with no player input are almost unique in any pc game.

falcon 4 allied force is on sale in uk from september and any serious flightsim/wargamer should buy this game if they do not already own it imho.

The price is reasonable as well. Sells for $29.95 in the usa from the publisher direct and thus should not be too expensive when released in the uk in september.
