The hexus.hoarde is dead. There is a sticky at the top of the page about that.

I'm sure you would be welcomed with open arms at Hordes Angels
Check http://arathor.theice.co.uk - guild forums currently located there, and message Avalonking or Wendy or ERU or any of those officer type people in game.
They're all about raiding high level instances and stuff, seem to be progressing quite well.

I have been meaning to get into WOW cause my mate keeps going on and on about it.
Thing is that I don't want to pay the subscription but I would be willing to pay £25 or the game.
Is a guild a different server to the official one?

No - its just people that help you out in game.

You do get 1 month free when you join though. If you want a game you dont a sub for, then guild wars would be the thing to go for, although its not a patch on wow.

Does anyone know if it is legal to run your own server?
I've heard arguments for and against it. I've tried it but couldnt get it working.
I don't want to pay for a game and only be able to play it for a month. But, if my mate keeps going on about it, I might change my mind...
    Thanks for your help.

Yes, running your own server is illegal, as you would have downloaded the server code from somewhere, which would be non-released copyrighted code.

Aren't these things coded by others - im sure the server emulation is not stolen source - either way - it's illegal and it defeats the point of a Massively Multiplayer Online Game when you only have 2 people playing, and none of the quests or anything work

    It's illegal because:
    a) the warcraft universe is Blizzard's intellectual property, so you can't make things based in it without licence from them.
    b) the terms of use for the client prohibit connecting it to any server other than Blizzard's
    c) the terms of use prohibit people from creating derivative works of WoW without Blizzard's consent (this is similar to a).

Or our Horde guild, "Alliance Assassins". Be seeing you.

PS anyone else finding tonight's patch painfully slow to download? Seems to be averaging 6KB/s.
And why has the Blizzard "Downloader" uploaded 11 MB so far? What's to upload???
