Question WoW or Guild Wars? Your Opinions...

Aside from the fact you have to pay monthly for WoW...
    Anyone play both?

I have played both, and prefer Guild Wars. I found that in WoW, there wasn't as much tactics with the skills/spells. I found myself just doing the same thing over and over again, yet with Guild Wars, I'm frequently trying new ideas out, new skills.

I play both, very different games. Roughly speaking - wow for pve, GW for pvp.

Gw is about skill, not level grinding.

So you can have a good time without having to play for 100000s of hours.

Played both and like both, just don't have enough time to put it both

So I went with WoW in the end. As for there being no skill involved in WoW, try doing a few MC runs with just using the same old skills and see how far it gets you. There is just as much stratergy needed in WoW as in GW IMO.

Played both and got bored of both. However WOW held my attention for much longer. I found GW, although a really pretty game, to be not as social as WOW. Also GW seems to attract some of the more annoying elements from the world of gaming, probably because of the lack of monthly fees. However not everyone is like that and there are some nice people out there playing WOW.

GW didn't have nearly as much depth to it for me as WoW does.

The more skill required for GW isn't true IMO, they are just different skills....in fact I would say WoW takes a lot more thought then GW to play successfully, especially if you play on a PvP server

    Amen !!!

PvP is the way to play WoW - none of this fairy style PvE. Theres nothing better than being in a constented area killing a monster/animal/elite human for a human to run past (if your horde) and then proceeding to attack you. The adrenaline rushes I get when I kill them and spit on the corpse, cannabilise their remains and then dance on the leftovers has kept me up until at least 4 am on some nights sessions

Next, is battlegrounds - Horde vs Alliance, Quake 3 capture the flag style gaming but with wizards, mages, warlocks, hunters, priests etc. Epic fun, and kills mean honour points which means ranks and special items once you get ranks like scout ( thats me - type 3 scout ), grunt, and more

The community on WoW is great as well, with various other guilds we know waving when we run past them running from town to town ( hello any Owneth II if your reading )

Anyone still got a 10 day key for Warcraft spare ? Donate it to the original poster and then they can join the crazy folks known as Horde Scum ( mainly us nutters from Scan and our friends and families ) on darksorrow pvp server and have a laugh at our 40 man raid antics to various high level cities

I dunno, I found wow pvp rather lack-lustre compared to GW. The PvE in wow is much better though. Nothing like killing a huge dragon.

ive got both, got hooked on wow for a bit, but then found it a bit boring. im putting it down to being on a underpopulated server....but still i couldnt stand the idea of doing more quest to kill more things to get more exp. i know people say the game really opens up at 60, but at 20 i got bored

i had to give gw 2 goes, but im really enjoying it now, the rpg side of it. its quite hard to find a good build, and taking the right skills out for the right mission...i havent done a lot of pvp, being a monk im first on the hit list so i die lots

Ahh, that clears that up. I've been wanting to get into WoW or GW, but as I don't have huge amounts of time to play would you say GW would be the best bet?
